Being a first time Toyota Tacoma owner I figured this is the place to hangout for information and answers about my 2024 Tacoma This is TRUELY a new experience for me as I have driven the same 1998 Single cab, manual 5 speed, 4x4 Ranger for the last 24 years as my daily driver and in another 1400 miles she'll turn over 300,000 miles. Besides the clear coat beginning to fail she's still in really good shape. I will keep her for hunting and going out in the fields and keep the new one for getting around town and road trips. I just figured it was time to drive something nice. The new Tacoma has more technology built into the steering wheel than my old Ranger had in the entire truck! This will be a steep learning curve!

It took nearly an hour just to find the Trip Odometer and reset it to do my first average mpg test. On my old Ranger you simply pushed the trip odometer reset button and voila,, it reset to zero!..lol It seems that all information; milage, temperature, oil pressure, drive mode, compass, is all displayed in digital format on the instrument cluster or the 12" Multimedia screen on the dash. And thru the various 16 different switches on the steering wheel, you can call up 40-50 different bits of information! That is if you know where to look and which switch and sequence to use to find what you're looking for! For an old timer use to old ways this is a challenge that's going to take some time to get use to!

Thanks to all.. I think this site will be full of helpful information, tips and ideas as I get more and more familiar with my Tacoma!
As to your question Steves104x4, the tires and wheels are 18" which I guess is the standard size for the TRD Sport trim package.

Congrats RangerFan. I have been away for a while and finally getting back on the TW site. Just got back from the dealer up here in Canada ( Maple Ridge ,B.C.) and finished all the paperwork on my new 2024 Sport Premium Taco and the same colour as yours Ranger Fan.It arrives next week. Only the 2nd one sold in my general area. That surprises me as I figured that way up here in the north we'd have to wait a lot longer for a new Taco than all of our American friends. This will be my 3rd Taco since 2006 and all have been "Sports". I'm in the same boat as you RF. All this Techie stuff scares the hell out of me (but then I am in my 70's). I figured I'd go all out on the Premium as this will most likely be my last vehicle and have 2 Savy grandkids to help me along with all the buttons. Now if I could only get a stronger pair of glasses to read all the accompanying literature LOL!!! Enjoy RF because I sure will when I get mine.

Old skool Rangers are great. Congrats on your new ride.

When it’s time to upgrade tires, take a good look at Falken Rubitreks.

Hi all, thanks for all the welcome messages! Much appreciated! I thought I'd check back in and give a little update after putting a few miles (1450) on the new TRD Sport.
Keep in mind, the following observations and opinions are from a first time Toyota owner.
A guy in his later 60's that spent the last 24 yrs driving a standard shift, no frills, 98 Ford Ranger 4x4, single cab for a daily driver that's now about 280 miles from turning over 300k.

Now for the 24 TRD Sport, 5ft bed, 8 speed trans.
    The good..
It's a great driving midsized truck. It's comfortable, smooth shifting and the engine has PLENTY of get up and go and It's fun to drive! The driver's seat is comfortable and all of the controls on the dash are easy to reach.

    My dislikes..
The engine has a rattling sound at lower speeds that sounds to me like valve or lifter clatter. (There's a forum on this matter.)
Its suppose to have a tilt steering wheel, but the steering wheel itself doesn't tilt , it's the steering column that moves up and down (just a little).
When the LED headlights are on the dim setting, there's a definite thin line between what is well lit and easy to see (maybe 75-100 ft. out in front) but beyond this line it's almost completely dark and hard to see ANYTHING, and that's with the headlights directed up as high as they will go. With the brights on you can see a long way off.
Optional equipment. You will find it difficult to find very much in the way of aftermarket Optional equipment (Running Boards, Bed Covers) as most of these companies are still in the engineering and design phase for the redesigned 24 Tacoma.

    The BAD!
As of yesterday I've had 4 Fault or Malfunction alerts pop up on my instrument panel.
    1. 12-Volt Battery Charging System Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer
    2. Grille Shutter Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer
    3. Drive-Start Control Malfunction,. Visit Your Dealer
    4. System Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer
Also, I pulled a 6x10 utility trailer last week and the truck still thinks there's a trailer back there and I haven't been able to get it out of trailer towing assist mode. This could just be me not being comfortable navigating the myriad of available settings. I tend to find that the simpler something is, the easier it is to navigate or operate and the more dependable it is over time! My opinion only!

I've scheduled a visit to my local Toyota Service Center next Monday 4/29, so the new Taco is out of service until then.
