Hey everyone, looking on some insight on your go to must haves for Camping/Overloading Equipment in Canada.

New to the camping scene and recently got the Gazelle T4 Hub Tent, now looking into Air mattress/cots, sleeping bags, camp stoves, coolers and lanterns etc.

If you have any recommendations on what gear/brands I should buy or look into, please let me know below, thanks!2B62DBED-A35B-448F-B17D-0EFD59C52A64.jpg

I don't know if there's necessarily a wrong answer. Stay within your budget. Some things can be as cheap as possible, some things should be a focus. Spend money on a good sleeping bag - potentially 1 each for winter and summer. Same for air mattress - insulated and non

Really all depends on the locations, conditions, durations and activities you're planning on doing. If you're just doing 1-2 night easy access drive in sites with mild weather, you can get away with simple gear you already have in your home. If you're doing 3-6 night harder access colder conditions and want to fish/hunt/explore, you might want some nicer reliable gear to cut down on space and weight.

    Camp stove? MSR Whiperlite!

Different styles, but I got the basic one, Naphta only, and absolutely love it. (Got the international one for kids, burns reg gas I think, but they boil water in no time.)
Lanterns: if I use one, the Coleman naphta lantern is bright as hell, good for truck camping, not so convenient canoe camping.
Air mattress: those self inflating ( but do add some of your own). They're not too thick, but actually quite nice. ( forgot the name) but there's really sweet stuff at the specialty camping stores.
Some of these things will seem expensive to start, but quality goes a long way if you're going to do this for awhile. ( you didn't buy a cheap (Chrysler, cough , cough) product, go out and enjoy life, eh?

As for coolers, don't waste big $$$ on Yeti. Look up YouTube on how some have just added spray foam to their reg coolers.

It's more comfortable to run a heater in your tent than just a warm sleeping bag, something like this: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mr-heater-9000-btu-buddy-portable-heater-0762357p.html
    Big propane tank adapter: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/woods-appliance-camping-converter-hose-10-ft-0765391p.html
