Goodbye TRD Pros......and Hello Volk Racing TE37s!

The weight of these things is astounding. Even with tires....it's a massive difference in weight. I can pick these up with 4 fingers in the barrel of the wheel, no issue.

They lightened the steering and made it more responsive, especially at speed.

They also livened up the trucks acceleration too, with a massive reduction in unsprung rotational weight, adding to the tunes performance bump.

I'm keeping my stock wheels with all terrains for off roading....but for most of my driving on road, these greatly improved the comfort, noise, and handling.

And best of all...with the larger offset...it's got a MUCH nicer stance too. Not too much, but out just enough.

They do rub the aftermarket mudflaps at full lock, but after a little trimming, I can easily live with it.

The wheels are 16x8 -20mm offset

Lets see some of your rides with Volk, Enkei or other forged mono-block wheels!

    For anyone wondering,

Just the wheel weight alone changed 10 lbs per wheel. From 26 lbs to 16 lbs. That's 40 lbs of unsprung and rotational weight removed.

The tires are a bit lighter too. I dropped about 18 pounds total off each wheel/tire.....and about 4 lbs switching to forged aluminum lug nuts.

That's a total of 56 pounds of weight that the driveline no longer has to spin.

Rotating unsprung weight works at a 1 to 4 ratio to sprung weight. So for every pound of rotating weight removed, it's equivalent to removing 4 lbs from the truck itself.

So the total of 56 lbs taken off the driveline will have the added effects of removing 224 lbs of dead weight from the truck, almost like taking a quad out of your bed.

It made a huge difference in turning sensitivity, acceleration, and braking.

Impressive numbers, like the look! Rotated to a set of light summer setup on a prior truck and it was a lot of fun. Curious if you considered 17" wheels and road tires. Would you mind sharing where you sourced these?

My tuner actually had these for sale off his truck. He was planning to go to 17s....and put these up. I bought them off him with decent tires, tpms sensors, lugs and center caps all in one shot.

I was trying to stick with 16s because I had a fairly new set of Wildpeak AT3Ws on my stock Pro wheels, and I wanted to swap them over at some point. Though, now after driving this truck with road tires again...I may just swap wheel/tires to go off roading and what not.....then switch back for most of my normal driving.

They will also improve your MPG. I changed my rims for aftermarket rims that were lighter, and I also changed to 4 lb each lighter tires.

    Your rims look good, congrads!

Nice truck OP - really like that classic Toyota color scheme decal. Looks killer on the white.
Just got some TE37xt's and I was just as surprised as you that 10lbs less per wheel would make such a noticeable difference in throttle response and handling. I am currently on the highest (sport) throttle of the KDMax Pro and am likely going to go down to the mid (normal) setting.

Love it, thanks for posting your pics OP! I always wondered if I'd have too much poke but it doesn't seem so much now. I've got the exact wheels (in bronze) but haven't had a chance to install them yet. Thinking of getting 265/75 AT3Ws. Do you suspect any rubbing other than the mudflaps (oem)?

I personally have bought from these sites for my Volks:

    • Versus Auto Sports, instagram DM sales
    • Vivid Racing
    • Showstoppers off road
I will also not hesitate to buy from these

    • system motor sports
    • evasive motor sports
    • speed image
    • icbmotorsport
They are all legit, but some are priced higher than others so do check prices and availabilities

Where and how much trimming on the flaps? Looks great. I like the meaty look and would go with an argent color.

I've bought from: Showstoppers Off road, System Motorsports and ICB motorsports. All three vendors will pisck-up your phone calls and tell you what they have in stock or when/if they can get the specs you are looking for.
Just to add, ICBs (Link: https://www.icbmotorsport.com/6x1397.html) website has been reliable in reflecting actual inventory.

What ever retailer stocks these will ask for a premium since they’re long discontinued.
