My name is Ramon. I am the original owner of a 2004 Tacoma, V6 4 dr. My truck has 160K on it. 3 years ago I replaced the water pump and all the belts at the dealer. I have never had any problems with it. Change the oil, add gas, go.
Earlier this year, it overheated. I checked it and radiator fluid all over the engine. Thought my radiator went bad. Took it to the dealer to get a new radiator. Dealer did a test (maybe a pressure test) and said that the radiator fluid is somehow leaking into the engine, something leaking. I asked about fixing that issue. I was told that I would need a new engine, or that it is cheaper and easier to replace the engine.
So now I am looking to replace my engine. I understand it will cost upwards of $4000. I just want to do it, correctly and hand the truck to my son.
Looking for references on reliable resources for:
    1) replacement engine
    2) reliable mechanic to install

    thanks
    Ramon

Hard to answer without knowing where you live!!

I doubt you want to find a place 1000 plus miles away.

Myself look for a running engine close to home.unless your looking for a new engine !!

I would also check into just what is wrong with your engine and the cost to repair.

I've seen a few jdm 3.4 engines going for $1600. Might want to look into that. They usually have less then 50k miles on them.
