Toyo Open Country AT3's installed on July 6th-Size 295/75/16 E Load

For what I wanted in a tire this time around was to have 3 peak mountain snowflake rated and a true 33" tire. It came down to Falken Wildpeaks AT3 and Toyo Open Country AT3. Wildpeaks doesn't have the size I wanted. In either 295/75/16 or 255/85/16 so I went with the Toyos.

Initial impressions; easy to balance, great looking tire, LOUD already even though I only got about 50 miles on them. Side walls aren't aggressive looking but overall, they still look great and are 3ply nonetheless. Feel of tires are realll grippy, hence the 3 mountain snow flake rating and its 33".

Coming from 285/75/16 Cooper ST Maxx, which it got 43338 miles out of them, I could of gotten about another 10k miles. Was planning on replacing them next summer before fall but I had a tire puncture/plug in one and the treads were getting low enough, contacting the plug itself whenever I'm driving on gravel roads/paved roads, I'll lose air. Tire pressure light would come on around every 5 days. Didn't want to keep airing up so I decided it was time to get it all replaced instead of just one tire... Not to mention the directional pull to the right from the St Maxx... Wont be missing that. Thank goodness the Toyos drive straight.

Anyone who's owned a set of Cooper ST Maxx, they know that its a loud set of tires especially when the tread starts to ware down. Just a heads up to anyone looking at these Toyo Open Country AT3's, a brand new set, they're almost as loud as a old set of ST Maxx...

Overall, I'm keeping these tires till they're bald or when its time to replace them. I've gotten used to the noise of the ST Maxx for the past 2 years and enjoyed everything I've thrown at them. From mud, sand, snow and rocks, they performed outstanding. I have no doubt these Toyos will do the same, if not better. If you don't mind the drone/humming noise of course.

If staying with the SL rated tire, are there any advantages of going with the larger 265/75r16 versus the stock size of p265/70r16? The minus is the speedometer will be off, any pluses? I drive 95% paved roads, 5% very soft beach sand.

i just got SL rated 265/75r16 installed July 2 and I can say for my truck coming from 265/70r16 that it actually corrected my speedo.

That’s slightly disappointing news I just put At2 Aw on because you can’t get the At 3 in Canada Yet.
They are not super noisy but I was hoping the AT3 was a little quieter with the new design so that when these wear out I can just put AT 3 on.

Depending on what you’re wanting, Like size and what not, I’d get falken wildpeaks at3w. They are super quiet and 3 peak mount snowflake for your Canadian needs up there. My original tire I wanted but not in the size I wanted. Might be switching to 17” wheels next so I can get the 285/75s

Might have missed it but has anyone put the LT 255/80-17's on a stock TRD OR? I have FN FX Pro wheels 17x8 with 0 offset. Was hopping to keep stock with no rubbing if possible. Thanks

Can anyone directly compare how aggressive these look and how durable compared to the AT2? I’ve been happy with the performance but gotten three flats so far, also want a lot it more aggressive look.

Under what driving conditions did you get the flats?

Just picked up three nails/other pieces of metal in the first two months I had them. May have just been bad luck. I’m a mechanical engineer so I’m on job sites from time to time, just have never had a flat on any of my other E rated tires and then three back to back with the AT2

Haven't taken any others yet. I'll try to get some soon. Good "eye spy" of the Ripmo!

I strongly considered the Ripmo before I got my SB130. Sounds like an awesome bike.

Just got my 255/80 ATIII’s installed. Only about 3 miles on them, but they look good, to me anyway. I’ll update as I get more time on them.

I got 5 and have spare on same wheel, might do 5 wheel rotation. Still need to figure out how to cram spare in stock location, but am recovering from knee surgery so that will have to wait a bit.
