I just got a Toyota Tacoma 2023 SR, and of course, it does not have any sort of hitch nor electrical for trailers. As someone who knows nothing, what should I be getting? I have found several hitches from Curt however they all vary in mounting styles but they all say they will fit my truck model.
    Examples:
    https://www.napaonline.com/accessories/curt-receiver-hitch?set-vehicle=1

    https://www.napaonline.com/accessor...cssqPOOEH7r2hf3XdhxoC0XkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

    https://www.napaonline.com/accessor...PfUFlwLXnCESFpBiH_RoCTJsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

I think I know what to get for the wiring, I am gonna follow this guy's vid https://youtu.be/Zaa0RPZ_XqA here on wiring but I am just not sure which hitch to get. Not gonna be exceeding anything more than 3500 lbs but for simple trailers, Uhauls, light plants etc.

A class 3 hitch is correct, with a large purchase you're best dealing with the vendor directly with an email or phone call.

The 13013 hitch shows up for me on your truck.

As for wiring, you can make it really simple if you only plan on towing 4 pin trailers, its a simple adapter that taps off the tail lights, basically less work and less wires. Otherwise that video is pretty good for a 7 pin, you will need a brake controller to go with it if you plan on towing 7 pin.

Gotcha, ill have to order one of those then. I’ll have to see what I need to do with wiring and brake controllers however. If I got the tools To even do it to begin with.

The big question to answer first is what you plan to tow.

The reason it doesn't come with the hardware is that it's tow rating is low.

You may only need a 4 pin connection which is way cheaper than a 7 pin connection. U-haul sells and installs hitches and wiring.

I'm obv not gonna haul any boats i don't own a boat but things like light plants or small Uhaul-sized trailers maybe the occasional log hooked up to a chain. So 3500 is perfectly adequate.

    I put a hitch on my '13 5 lug, so I understand.

I used a Curt Hitch, a 4 pin flat plug and converter box that fit nicely behind the left taillight, a mounting bracket and cover for the flat plug that located it neatly on the bottom edge of the back bumper, a tongue with a 1-7/8 ball, and a Toyota cap for the receiver when not using the hitch.

Sourced from various places including ebay, Amazon and e-trailer.
