    hello,

my name is cory , just bought a 2006 toyota tacoma double cab 6spd 4x4 i was test driving this truck for two days before i bought it had my mechanic check out and everything looks good right....well just so happens as soon as sighn the papers seems like the truck is falling apart and theres nothing they will compremise on first the (TPMS) light starts blinking on well i know enough to realize when i have a flat or if i need air in my tires so i pulled the wire out of the module and grounded it .(no more light). then i start hearing this chirping noise from around the tranny, can put my foot on the clutch just about a inch or so and the noise goes away...correct me if im wrong 99% chance its the throw bearing "right" .. so i let it go untile i just cant shift is my guess from here. But now something thats really messing with my head is that my check engine light is on , i went to autozone to read the code it sayes ( p0022, intake (A) camshaft position timing over retarded) (bank 2) the sensor is a $99.00 but then after driving for a few the light is off im confused is it bad or what i dont much about toyotas or the new efi engines and to go even further its vvt-i help please i dont want to have to put alot of money in this thing. everyone told me yeh go for it its a toyota it will go forever [IMG] and now im starting to notice that the tranny rattles and has some vibration when pulling 1st or 2nd is this normall

Who did you buy it from, dealer or PP? Did you get any warranty with it? Do you know how it was used by the previous owner? How many miles does it have on it?

Obviously all of these warning lights and issues aren't normal. The first thing you need to do is figure out why it's having all of these problems. If you're having several issues at once, there's a bigger picture problem that needs to be dealt with.

2nd issue is almost definitely the throw out bearing. Common issue with manual transmissions prior to 2010MY. If you're over 36,000 miles out of warranty, your choice is to either pay to have it fixed, or just wait as you mentioned.

My 6 speed transmission rattles and makes strange noises too, has done it since day 1. So the weird noises may be ok there. The chirping sounds like the bearing and you're probably SOL unless you got a 30 day warranty or something when you bought it. There are a couple of different companies that came out with fixes, URD comes to mind for a sleeve kit to fix the bearing. Not sure how hard it is to install though.

TPMS probably someone damaged one of your sensors. Or I think I've read on here that some model trucks have sensor in the spare too so it may be coming from there. I don't have any on my truck so my light just stays on. You learn to live with it.

No idea on the code it's pulling, but hopefully just a bad sensor.

First I've heard of the camshaft sensor, odd.

On a side note which wire do you have to ground? I'd LOVE to turn that stupid light off.

if you take the hvac cluster out..(it just pops out ) alot of people say that you have to take most of the dash cover off but i didnt it was def a tight squeez but i got my hand in there anyway.. there is a little black plastic box right begind the cluster to your left corner in there take your fingers and pull back toward you really hard it will pop out..i took a flat head screw driver and bent it up obviously you shouldnt care if its bent if your not going to use it but there is a wire harness under it unclip in pull the wires up and look for the solid blue wire not the one that is blue with the white strip make sure its sold blue ..and pull it out take some strippers and cut back just enough to get a ground kremp on it i grounded mine to the bolt just to the top left of of hvac cluster if you look in there you should see a bolt to your left and right either should work it worked for me ..

and by the way i did end up buying a 2yr 20k mile warranty but all of the probs i am having the warranty people say it wont cover wtf was any good in buying the warranty if its the tob its considered a clutch part and its a normal wear item but it will cover a new tranny if it gets to bad i guess i could always sit in a parking lot for a hour or too and make sure the tranny rips out and the warranty will cover me a new one right?

some thing weird about the code though i had a buddy look at it for me (the camshaft over retard bank 2) code ...he deleted the light with his monitor and the light hasnt come back on yet ...this thing has a mind of its own... othere than all these probs man this truck honeslty runs smooth and has all the power no hesitation or anything maybe its just me freakin about every little thing i hear and see becouse its new..

You bought the truck while on vacation 6 hours away and had your mechanic check it out? Take your mechanic on vacation?

Wow. Your suspicions sound right. Tough luck man! Best of luck. I'd take it right back to your dealer!
