Im getting ready to replace the tires on my '23 SR5 2WD. Its got the factory 245/75/16's on it. No lift etc. My '10 ran 265/70/16' which I thought gave it a taller look. Any suggestions on a tire size upgrade on 16" wheels. Im. NOT going to 17-18" wheels.

245/75R16 & 265/70R16 are essentially the same overall diameter, the 265 would just be almost an inch wider.

If you are wanting it to have a taller look, the only real choice on a 16” wheel is 265/75R16, which will be 1.1” taller and again, almost an inch wider. That’s the size I went with on my 16” Off-Road wheels.

I only got about 15,000 miles out of my stock firestones and replaced them with stock sized Falken Wildpeaks.
They 'look' bigger without being 'bigger', feel and ride great too.

245/75/16's and 265/70/16's are the same height. The 265's are 20mm wider, or about 3/4" at the sidewall. 265/70/16's are, or at least were an optional tire size from the factory. Mine came with that size.

The exact width of the tread that contacts the ground can be different depending on the manufacturer and the exact tire. Some tires even in the same size will be a bit wider. E rated tires in the same size are slightly larger in diameter.

I moved to 265/75/16's years ago. They are about 1" taller and about 3/4" wider than your current size. Just enough bigger to look a bit better, give a little more ground clearance, but have no real downsides. That size is often less expensive as well.

You can run them with no lift and they still don't look too small even with a 2-3" lift.

Thanks for the sensible reply I don't really have a need for a mega lift or 4x4 or 6.+gears

Just what I was expecting some codsack suggesting a 40" tire on 20" wheels.

The 265/75 is going to be your best bet, it’s basically a 31” tire.

I did the cooper stt max 255/85/16 on the oem offroad rims without any mods or rubbing (daily street driving).

They're basically 33’s, look good but they are heavy, load range E (helped handling but drive more truck-like) and took a gas mileage hit.

I’m lifted now and considering rims and 285s….or stay on the 255, not sure yet.

It appears the OP does not want to go up to 33's, but here is another vote for 255/85/16's. After the 265/75's wear out, that's what's on the list.

    Cheers
