Just saw that Superwinch has released a new SX line that looks pretty comparable and about a hundred bucks cheaper. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts on Superwinch? Warn made in Merica fanbois please kindly get bent.

There is a line of warn that is cheaper and made over seas to compete with smittybuilt and others in that price range. I have the x20 and @Key-Rei saw it pulling me up some good sized ledges. I think it's Justin that actually has the superwinch but he has an older model pre buy out. I forget who bought them out recently in the last couple of years but they don't seem to be up to snuff like they use to be or at least that's the word on the street.

They're owned by Westin now :puke:Honestly they look like an exact copy of the Smittybuilt X20 , but have less hp. I think I'll stick with my plan of getting the Smittybilt, the Warn Evo line is definitely more affordable but still more than I currently want to spend.

Ah yeah, yours was definitely doing work! Haha!

Plus I have heard there's some mods/maintenance you can do on the smittys to bring them up to par so to speak, replace the grease, reseal with FIPG and something else to help waterproof the coils or something I'm not sure.

For what it's worth I have a warn m8000 with synthetic and more or less lucked into it rather than decided upon it but I am very happy with it.

LOL warn.. I've seen cheapo ebay winches do fantastic things, I've seen winches with fishbowl control boxes work fine after being drained(so much for that Waterproof claim), my craigslist ancient $50 winch works fantastically.

Looks like the X20 is still cheaper, from what I'd seen.

Not giving a product recommendation in either direction. But a couple of things I learned about winches along the way.

Determine your bumper's winch preference. On one of my trucks, I have an ARB bumper that prefers a winch with 8 clock positions for the clutch handle to be positioned to the most convenient location. The X20 winch that I bought only supports 4 clock positions. I lucked out because my grille attaches to the hood and I can get around that by opening the hood to reach the clutch instead of reaching through the hole in the bumper. In a way, it looks like Warn and ARB are in cahoots to come up with a bumper design that requires 8 clock positions that comes with some Warn winches. Some bumper companies design their bumpers to work with a 4 position Smitty. Then it doesn't matter which winch company you go with.

4WheelParts will price match Amazon. I found a deal at Amazon on an X20 and 4WP matched the price.

4WP offers a "super warranty" that gives full replacement regardless of the damage. If you do something crazy and explode your winch while pulling a tree stump, you get a new winch.

Also, note 4WP and Smitty are owned by the same company. So they can get into some serious pricing and extended warranties that others may not be able to meet.

I look at it as a winch is only as good as the company that will stand behind it for years to come.

Interested to see where they consider this lying in the order of the lineup.
Above the LP and Tigershark series?
i like superwinch a lot, however, this looks like a desperate attempt to copy the warn zeon series

    This.

I'm always highly skeptical of buying a brand new item. Minor updates are one thing, but if it's a completely new design, I'd steer clear for a year or two. Let other people be the beta testers.

I have a Superwinch Talon 9.5. I know it's their higher end, but it's been an awesome winch, and worlds better than the shittybilt it replaced.

I have no experience with Warn, but read some not so great things about their newer models when I bought the superwinch a couple years ago.

Would not hesitate to buy another.

The biggest thing warn has going for it is parts availability, you can still get rebuild kits from Warn for some of their winches that are 50 years old.

Most other options only offer parts support for 5 years so if something breaks after that it's welp better buy a new one as you can't rebuild.

If that doesn't matter to you then I say get whatever you can afford that has reasonable reviews.

With what @CS_AR was saying Smitty might be the way to go for you if you're buying new.
