I have a 3rd gen non jbl stock audio system.

I purchased Kicker 47KSC2704 tweeters and soldered the tweeter harness to the adaptor harness, without any capacitor. Update, I did notice that on the adaptor harness I bought, two wires were jumped in the connector.

Question 1 - Will these tweeters require a capacitor? Will I hurt it if I run them tomorrow without one?

I also got the Kicker 47KSC69304 6x9 speakers for the front doors. I soldered the adaptor harness to the factory speaker harness, after the ?crossover? (It’s shrink wrapped and I think that’s what it is).

I just put the crossover on the door metal with double stick tape.

Question 2 - the speakers say to make sure the source unit or amp is 4ohm. Is mine? Will it cause harm if I run it like this? (I have no amp).

question 3 - I only finished both tweeters and one door speaker. Will it cause any harm to run it like this in the morning?

As you can tell, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing with car audio. Any help would be appreciated!!!! Thanks!

    STOP!

Your 47KSC2704 speakers absolutely need the capacitor. Add it to the + line. It is not directional, you cannot install it backwards. Personally, I think the Kicker supplied capacitor rolls off too low. I think that these capacitors are a better fit with those speakers. Either way, you will blow the speakers if you don't add the capacitors.

The factory head unit is 4 ohms. You are good there.

OK thank you. All I did was test it at a relatively low setting without any major music. Do you think it is still OK?

Ok so this is what I have. All good? No need to worry about that capacitor and plastic assembly on the stock tweeters?

    thanks gents!

Very likely that everything is fine. You would have to have it turned up to blow the speaker.

thanks! Never installed speakers before and thought they were going to be plug and play with the harnesses crutch field included....

got it all done yesterday and the sound is much better than stock. Stock wasn’t crisp at all and lacked any and all bass. Now I can actually hear the lyrics and there’s a tiny bit of bass. I’m very happy. I’ll look into an amp in the future.
