    I got mine from a lot and had less miles than yours. I had 1 whole mile on it before I test drove it.

    I'd buy the truck for that if they'd guarantee in writing on trade-in it's KBB + $15k No Haggle/No Dicker Price

    Thats pretty rare these days for those tacoma's sitting on a lot. You must of got the truck not long after the dealer got it. I had one ordered from the texas plant to the dealer here in boston...picked it up with .6 a mile on the odo. I've seen them here at dealers with double and triple digit numbers on them already.

    This is me! I have a Sport holding for me at this Dealership.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ma-price-thread.685728/page-166#post-25990545

    A lot of the trucks in the back are labeled fleet. No miles on them, just sitting being sold as "Used" once off fleet status. I'm not paying a markup but am paying MSRP which is fine to me. I looked all over for a Barcelona red Sport and couldn't find one except here. Only thing I'm going to bring to the table when I go in for paperwork is I'm not paying a "used" car loan % on a truck with 8 miles on it. They said they would meet the % I can get at other banks but we will see. I have no problem walking away.

    This probably is nothing as far as shenanigans go. I've seen dealership employees posing as customers. I didn't think nothing of it when I was there, later in the day is when I realized those fine people were not customers. They probably thought it was weird when I was trying to sell them the vehicle they was looking at.

    That used to be a thing that dealers would do at quota time to ensure that they got preferred allocations. From what I recall, they would sell them to various employees who worked at the dealers.

    Nope.
    Fake News.
    They have an open MSO, so they must be sold as new.

    Manufacturer's Statement of Origin, also known as MCO (Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin) Think of it as a vehicle's "birth certificate". You need it to register a new vehicle with DVM for the first time and have a title issued. It contains the following information:
    • Name of the manufacturer registered with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA);
    • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) as assigned by NHTSA;
    • Line-make assigned by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) under the “make” procured by the FLHSMV;
    • Year;
    • Body type;
    • Engine displacement in cubic centimeters (cc), watts or brake horsepower (bhp);
    • Number of cylinders;
    • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR);
    • Name of the licensed manufacturer, distributor or importer at the bottom of the MSO, including signature, city and state; and
    • Name and address of the licensed franchise dealer or customer in the middle of the MSO.
    The above information is for Florida but it's pretty similar in just about all states

    I highly disagree with this theory**

    That’s weird… what could be the advantage of selling it as used? Are the dealers titling them to take advantage of the rebates and then reselling without rebates or to inflate numbers for kickbacks from the manufacturer? This is very odd for sure.

    lol all those tundras listed at $60k no mater what trim level.

    When I bought my Tacoma I could have bought a new leftover that they moved over to the used lot and certified it . It was brand new TRD Sport LB certified for $32,500 which was a great deal but I wanted the SB . It had me thinking for a couple days though .

    I don't know if I would have been first or second owner .

    From Connecticut to Michigan?

    I'm not sure how it works with dealerships between the US and Canada though but I know my last pickup was purchased by me in St. John's, MI but was previously in Quebec. The only issue from that was I couldn't use OnStar because it was programmed for Canada and OnStar themselves couldn't reprogram it for the US.

    I can tell you how it works for snowmobiles if you live in the u.s., and buy in canada then claim a warranty issue to a dealer in the states....you have to go back to a dealer in canada to get it serviced.

    I think the dealers here in Canada are very honest about the sales and would not cheat the customers. I know for a fact that if Toyota gets a complaint about customers being ripped off by certain dealer then that dealer would lose it's license. Same goes with their sales staff, they get fired on the spot if found to be pushing sales etc etc on their customers. I had 12 km on my new 2021 Tacoma and if I remember correctly reading on the contract that a new vehicle is guaranteed to come with less than 15 km or it is used. Demos well that is another question. Just saying.
