So I have been driving on the highway 85 percent of the time and have decided that I wanted a little more street friendly, gas friendly tire. So getting right to it, I bought these rims ( 1st gen) and mounted them on my 2nd gen. Planned to run with no spacers but forgot about the off set difference and the calipers hit. Had to run my spacers. It is right on the verge of to far out in my opinion. Just want to hear what you guys think. I am going to get new tires for them if I keep them, maybe some suggestions on good street tires fTaco.jpg Taco2.jpg Taco3.jpg or a 10 inch rim if you have them too. Thanks for the help and dont hold back, I want to know if I look like an idiot or not.

No sir, I wouldn't run them. Those things look like they're going to kill your wheel bearings.

Swamp buggy wanna be. Sorry, just the first thing that popped in my head when I saw the pic.

Aren't those an aftermarket wheel of some type? Not recalling that style on gen1. (you say they are gen1 wheels, or did you mean they came off a gen1)

Even if you trimmed the calipers and ditched the spacers it wouldn't help enough. 'cause I'm assuming you didn't bother with spacers on the rear since clearance wasn't an issue there?

And a 10" wheel for street use is not going to help your MPG goal.

All similar thoughts over here. I dont think I would pick up huge amounts of gas mileage no matter what I do so that is not a big deal to me. Never gonna be a Corolla. They are American Racing wheels 16x10's. I have always liked the street truck look, and if I could get them to work without spacers I think they would sit perfect. Going to look tomorrow and see how far off I am and if I can "manufacture" clearance without destroying anything important. It is way quieter and handles way better than with my offroad tires and with new street tires it would be even better. I hate having the spacers, and to answer the above question, I left them on in the rear as well. Thank you though for the comments, I needed to hear it.

So I listened to you guys and although I wanted those other wheels, you all were right. They were not practical. I wanted, more than anything else, a better/quieter ride. Wanted to get rid of my stock steelies and get a nice set of aluminums. So my first attempt was a failure, but I think I got it right this time. They ride and so nice and are so quiet. Makes the truck look pretty premium IMO.

Thanks Fitz, no more spacers. Makes the truck easier to work on too. No spacers to take off when doing front brake/hub stuff. Huge step in the right direction.

Thank you. Gotten a lot of compliments on the way it looks from friends. It really took the truck from base to premium. Wish I would have done it sooner.
