Just got an email with some new Ridge Grappler sizes, looks like there's a new option for the tall and skinny look.

Torn between this and the 265/70R17 version.

I debated for a very long time when I first lifted, and went with 265/70/17's to avoid all rubbing. But, as the saying goes, go big or go home.

So, then I knew I had to step up to 33's and couldn't decide between the 255's and 285's. Ended up doing 285's but the rubbing is really annoying, I like the tall skinny look but with the big bushwacker fender flares on my truck I think it might look weird. So, I'll just resort to trimming lots of stuff :sawzall:

Good luck on whatever you decide man, it's tough!

Thanks. I'd prefer not to do a suspension lift to avoid related issues and cost, so hoping this 255 would work with a stock suspension also. It's a little taller than the Cooper ST Maxx that everybody likes in this thread; https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/put-255-85-16s-on-stock-or-wheels-and-suspension.491079/

Not sure about stock height, but I know 3rd gens are already an inch higher. So, with a little trimming they'd probably fit.

He shouldn't need to trim, but I dunno if there's a significant height difference between a 3rd gen sport and OR. Just lose the mudflaps and probably good to go with 255s (the linked thread above is mine)

e: Just checked and several people (including myself) are running the 255 KM2s which are also 33.3" on the manufacturer spec sheet, so I expect these to fit no problem @Deucer01

255/85/16's next on the list. Can anyone recommend Cooper ST's for everyday use? I won't be doing any off roading and it seems the Km2's are not good in the rain. Guessing the ST Maxx would be overkill for my needs. Thanks

I went from 255s to 285s. 255s did not rub at all under full flex. When I went to 285s i had to trim my mud flap, push the caster out more and adjust my coils up as well. More work but worth it IMO.

They’ve been out a bit now so there’s probably a few pics around the site, there are dedicated threads to the pizza cutters I’m pretty sure

Like @ChadsPride, I’m running 285’s so I’m no help lol

I can't wait for more picture of these .... i like how its virtually the same measurements as the cooper st maxx, but taller .... wish the tread was deeper though -I get the feeling the grappler wont cut it in PNW

Just got mine put on today. Tread blocks are definitely deep. They ride suprisingly smoth and quiet. At 65, barely audible- you have to be listening for it to hear it. Extremely happy with them (but im OTT tuned and have 4.88 gears).

Theres tons of space between the tires and UCA. But Im still trimming some plastic in the fenderwell where the tires rub during turns while the suspension is compressed. Its not bad, but I dont like noises that arent supposed to be there. Other than that and the little drop in mpg, this set up is awesome.
