I’ve read numerous post and several have mentioned the “Company that can’t be mentioned” can someone explain?
Also which dealer has a sale often on the the DMH6600?

Okay so now that the head unit is not an issue... has anyone had any success upgrading the cameras? The 360 view and front/reverse cameras have abysmal quality and I'd love to get something higher resolution.

I guess since it's only RCA inputs that the answer is probably no but I wasn't sure if anyone had any luck with USB support etc.

FYI - I tried to cheap out and get the Pioneer DMH-WT3800NEX because it's the same screen size and looks identical to the 6600, but it DOES NOT fit in the premium radio bezel.

I just want to add that I finally got around to install the Enfig TOY-MIC1 and it works great on my 2022 TRD off road with premium. Yes, they moved the factory microphone spot from the overhead center crawl control console to above the driver side visor and Enfig make TOY-MIC2 that goes into this new slot however the old slot in the overhead center console still exists and is just blocked with foam. You can buy TOY-MIC1, remove the foam, install it, voila.

This has come up a few times in this thread but I know I never got a satisfactory conclusion for how it works on newer models so there you have it. It sounds great and much better than the visor location IMO.

Folks with a 6600NEX installed who have upgraded their JBL system... what did you go with?

I'm considering replacing the whole lot and I'm confused on whether or not I need to retain the JBL amp if I've replaced the HU.

No need to keep any part of the jbl system if you replace the head unit. Of course, that's assuming you're using the head unit or aftermarket amp to power speakers.

I opted to keep the factory head unit and add aftermarket amps through a PAC AP4. If you go this route, you do have to keep the factory amp plugged in....if you take out the jbl amp, music will play but you cannot adjust the volume, so dumb

Pardon if this has already been answered but can the radio display the transmission temp with the RR2 connected for the gauge inputs?

Link is also not working for me.

    EDIT:

They have the wrong link linked. This should be a direct download: https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware Update Files/2023 AVH DMH/Version_3_04/DMH-WC6600NEX.zip

No it does not. It's listed, but grayed out and unable to be selected. Wish it would.

I tried updating via CarAvAssist and no luck. I was able to download the update but not upload it. No surprise since it's so glitchy. My USB port on my truck doesn't work so I cant update that way. Ill try again another time, hopefully with better luck.

I'm using these 2 adapters to keep my factory USB-A port functional:

    iDatalink UTO3 USB Adapter: Link
Anker USB-C to USB 3.1 Adapter: Link

    OEM Cable -> UTO3 -> Anker USB-C Adapter -> Headunit

Was it too large or smaller than the premium bezel? Dimensions wise, they appear to be the same size.

Updated to the lastest 3.04, has anyone anything different? I haven't noticed any changes.

I have also seen a lot of people have issues when they are doing the update through the app. The steps on the HU can get confusing, however I have not had issues via the app.
    1. Download the update.
    2. Turn on your phones hotspot.
    3. Connect the HU to your phone's hotspot.
    4. In the HU go to settings, system, system info, firmware updates and press CarAVAssist, leave it on this screen.
    5. In the App, connect to car/HU (link car icon), then go to firmware updates and transfer.
    6. Transfer percentage bar pops on the HU's screen.
    7. Finished <30minutes<10 minutes and will auto reboot.

Holy crap 30 min? Installing off a 3.0 usb took about 3-4 minutes.

That said, I have not noticed anything different with the new firmware either.

I dicked around with the app update for the very first one, right after I put my unit in. After that, I just use the USB update method. MUCH simpler and faster.

I did that but for some reason even when connected to my hotspot it says I’m not connected. After the third try it finally worked. It didn’t take any longer than 10 minutes, and that’s probably overestimating the time. I spent 45 min just trying to get it to upload!

I do need to fix my usb. It worked for about a month after installing the HU but then something happened and the whole thing is dead, including the aux port (I’m referring to the stock usb/aux that’s below the climate controls). I have a new one I just haven’t installed it yet. The first time I did the update, I did it via USB and it was much faster.

It isn't really 30 minutes, I think it was closer to around 5-10. It felt longer, as I was just waiting and staring at the percentage bar.

It said wireless AA/Carplay improvements, wonder if it is in regards to disconnects in certain high interference areas (airports, toll gates, etc.)

I don’t understand why a head unit which can connect to wifi can’t install its own firmware. That part just seems so silly.

Always wondered that too, why it cannot do its own OTA updates. Just a guess, but it may be a lack of internal storage to store the update, so it requires an update via usb. Via the app, it would transfer the update instead into ram.
