Pioneer's have two different speaker settings, normal and network.

In standard mode, the RCA jacks are separated into Front Channel, Rear Channel, and Sub Channels. The front and rear channels output the full frequency range in standard mode.

In network mode, the RCA jacks are separated into High Channel (tweeters), Mid Channel, and Sub Channels.

You would use network mode if you want to use an active component speaker setup and will only be running distinct channels and have no speakers that will be running the full frequency range, like coax speakers.

Just to be clear where I’m at, no response necessary this is more of a cathartic posting. yes it’s connected to my phone via Bluetooth. Also my phone shows it as connected via WIFI if I want it to be. I can also activate my phone’s hotspot and then the real loving begins. They connect and I get a blue or green bar along the top of my phone. It’s at this point that CarAlwaysVexingAssist stuff starts to work, but then at the end I get a message saying the car and phone are not feeling it. The good news is that I updated the firmware via USB.

Oh yeah, sorry I did read over that. I’m not really very familiar that type of feature! I have crossovers so I assumed that I leave that alone!

Yeah, if you are using external crossovers, you want to stick with normal mode.

I finally figured out how to sync with CarAFVassist today!

I was able to do it wirelessly. I used the personal hotspot in the IPhone settings. No tethering. On the unit, you can sync it up using the WiFi hotspot settings, and choose the iPhone. Open the CarA-effin-Vassist app and it will sync. Then make the changes to backgrounds, layout, etc. Then on the unit hit the transfer button in the assist application. Sometimes fast and sometimes after a few minutes, the unit will say the reading is complete. Sometimes switching to a different screen on the HU helped prompt the transfer, I think because it would then see the changes I made. But anyway, it works just fine and I like all of the customization features. When I’m done I turn the phone’s hotspot off. I’m glad my dumb ass finally figured it out or interpreted whatever the directions we’re trying to tell me.

EDIT: I was able to get it to sync without the hotspot and just connected to the phone with WiFi today. I don’t know why, it is holding the connection now. It took some trying after that going back and forth with the assist on both sides but it finally connected in the phone assist app and then the HU linked up and made the transfer.

Yep. Both the unit and the Maestro instructions will cover install with JBL amp or any aftermarket amp.

Web browser works OK! This worked with the IPhone’s hotspot. To engage the hotspot, so far I’ve needed to go to the Head unit menu, and in the WiFi hotspot menu I select “hotspot setting” and then select my IPhone. The trick is that my iPhone won’t connect when I hit the button unless on my iPhone is in the hotspot window in my phone settings. They then make the connection. At that point, the browser on the pioneer will work and streams through TMobile LTE. At the same time, I was able to connect the phone and unit with CarAVAssist. It even said “read” at one point! The magic software stuff is working!

So I’m loving the new head unit (6600NEX) but the one the that drives me crazy is that whenever I am listening to an input other than my wireless CarPlay, and then I pick up my phone to do something (browse the web, look at social media, send a text, etc.) the head unit automatically swaps over to CarPlay even though there is no audio coming from the phone. Does this happen to anyone else and/or does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance!!

Yes and it’s annoying. I haven’t found a fix yet.

HAs anyone figured out how to amke it default to the carplay screen on startup. I always have to push the soft app button on the side then select carplay when I turn on the truck

I never thought about this. My unit defaults to the last screen used. Since I always use carplay, it always picks up where I left off when I shut the truck down.

Just ordered a refurbished WC6600 off drive in autosound for $660. Super excited. I’m going to replace my W4500nex if anybody wants more info on what’s required for that.

Ripped some movies to MP4 and they play off of a USB just fine (in park). Could be useful... someday soon hopefully.

Ok guys. I have a strange request. I no longer have my Tacoma. Traded it to get my wife a Highlander and bought myself a Lexus IS350.

Would someone please try plugging a mouse into the 6600 and see what happens. I doubt it supports it but you never know.

Hey, That’s not going to do anything because it’s not built to interface like a PC peripheral. But, in case you’re trying to win a bet or something, I tried it and nothing happened... It powered the laser in the mouse but that was expected.

Are you going to do an audio upgrade in your IS350?
