    Hi TW,

I recently purchased an OEM PS pump from camelback toyota, (PN 44320-04043)

The pump will to replace a failed reman'd unit in my 2001 regular cab, base 4x4, MT, 2.7l.

To my pleasant surprise, the assembly came complete with a new reservoir. However, there are some minor differences in the reservoir cap and inlet.

The new cap dip stick is about 1/2" shorter than the old unit. See photos below (new cap is on the right, grey dip stick):

The reservoir inlet barb hose is also about an inch longer and bends more towards the intake manifold (backwards), while the older unit pointed more or less at the battery. I don't think this is a big deal but thought it was interesting. Not sure why there is a difference here. I can post photos of this if there is interest. Don't have any at the moment.

Anyway, opinions on which dipstick to use with this new pump? I am not an expert on fluid levels in this system so I am not sure if an extra 100-200ml of ATF in the reservoir to reach full on the shorter dipstick would matter.

    Thanks!

The one with the new pump !

The vendor of the pumps has no doubt changed in 18 years maybe a few times.

My OEM pump has a dipstick like the one on the right. I would use that one since your new pump is Toyota OEM.

If you want an oem reservoir to match, try the local junkyards. The 2.4L engine on the 5 lug tacos uses the same PS pump as the 2.7 I believe. That type of truck will be pretty common in the pullapart yards.

Thanks for the feedback @Wyoming09. I suppose it is not surprising that the parts and manufacturers have changed a bit over nearly 2 decades. Thanks for the insight.

@Blue92 good to know. Thanks for the info on your OEM pump. I'll just use the cap and reservoir that came assembled from the dealership. Good to know that others have no trouble with this style and fluid level in their systems. I still have the older OEM reservoir that came off the reman'd pump, so no need to go junkyard hunting. Into the spare parts box it goes...

    Thanks all.
