Just came across this video on YouTube. It hasn’t been released yet but should be coming soon. They’re going to include trigger wires in the unit to send power to trigger relays.

It can be triggered based on a function like shifting to drive, using your blinker or like a regular toggle switch. I see a lot of threads of people asking where to tap accessory power for relays. Pretty neat the unit will have it built in. For us 2nd Gen guys not sure if it will fit behind the radio. It was hard enough getting the regular RR back there.

I guess the challenge here is to figure out what kind of external controls can be linked to this unit. I like the idea of audio mute on reverse, but you could also use the unit to pull a relay that powers some holy shit reverse lighting eliminating the need to tie it into the existing reverse lighting, or use it to activate a reverse noise maker.

Probably it would be a good idea to use it to give you additional indication that your parking brake is engaged if that's possible so you never take off with the parking brake engaged. I'd have to see what the full list of triggers would be to determine all the "if this then that" scenarios, but it looks interesting.

There are a TON of configurations.
You can also assign steering wheel controls to these triggers as well. For example, I never use the answer/hang up buttons, or the mode button. That’s 3 “switches” I can have programmed for various tasks. One will definitely be to activate my front camera.

I took some screenshots of the video when he had the menus dropped down so here are the current items

Just curious for science and all can you program it to trick the radio into park mode?

If that’s all you need, you can do it for way cheaper. Do a quick google search for your radio
