Hey, so I got these new headlights and I’ve read that it’s a good idea to seal them up before installing. My question is am I just sealing along the edge where the clip is all around?

Also I got I got this GE Advanced clear silicone, is this what I should be using?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Brand new , seal before installing. That doesn’t sound good. I’m sure the headlight savvy guys will chime in on the sealant.

I used silicon sealant as handles aquariums and 2.7 oz was more than enough for 2 headlights and under $5. The big gun tubes are hard to handle and direct for me and regular silicon seems to peel away from the plastic headlight assembly. Clean around seams with light alcohol on rag first to get any assembly oils off but don't soak it on or may leak into light and let dry before sealing. Seal the area where the front clear meets the rear case and fill the entire gap then let dry before installing.

Necrobump...any long term report on this? Debating whether to disassemble these new ( CAPA cert ) housings and use butyl tape, I can't seem to see a continous bead of anything in there.

No high quality headlight housing should require any sealant prior to installation. Needing it is a sign of poor design and manufacturing practices. If you do need sealant though, just about any type of RTV will work.

Thanks guys, yeah, there's a strip of grey folded something or other in there but I'm a bit suspicious of whether it is actually continuous.I'm going to pull them apart and investigate.

Window weld or butyl will seal that with no issues. :)
