This one looks promising. Now has turn by turn navigation on off-road trails. Also has in reach built in. Hefty price tag though. Anybody thinking of getting one?

I’ve been eyeing it pretty hard since ripping out my Anytime Camera, because of its front camera option, and how it integrates with the power switching system. I have auxbeam now but I’d like to get my interior cleaned up/consolidated.

I had considering getting the overlander when I got my REI dividend this year, but after reading reviews and doing some research, apparently it’s offroad nav capabilities weren’t so great. I hope the Tread is better.

I did like the camping feature of the Overlander. Pretty nice to be able to find somewhere with a touch of a screen. If the Tread has this feature as well, I would be all about the Tread hands down

I will give my honest review of the new Tread. The off-road navigation sucks butt. I used this when I was at the San Juan mountains in Colorado two weeks ago. I set the map to be able to go shortest distance possible. When I was getting off Poughkeepsie Gulch, I put search for a restaurant. It took me about 8 miles up the opposite direction only to make me do a U turn. I also noticed that the turn by turn navigation was not accurate offroad. It would navigate me away from a trail even though it’s open. It will give me a warning that the road is closed. By the way I updated the Garmin the day before heading to the trails. I have regrets buying it. I’m hopeful the next update can fix this issue but I highly doubt it.

Why would one use this device and not just download maps for offline use on your smartphone or iPad and use that? Even now, with my new iPhone you have basically the inreach built in where you can send for help via satalite (no cell service). GPS still works with no cell service...just thinkin outloud here as to why lol.
