I've had a hunch for a while that focusing on "E load" as an indicator of durability is likely not that useful. And also that talking about plys is also not a correct judge of durability either. I still don't have any solid evidence to support that, but I can tell you that the sidewalls on my C load AT4W's are thicker than the sidewalls on my E load G003's.

It was more snow than I expected. There will definitely be more snow after this storm passes. The tires performed exceptionally well- no slipping, went through snow perfectly fine, went over rocks just as fine too. I’ve had the at3w’s and they were not Load Range E. These are beefier. The only downside is, I’ve noticed a slight decrease in my mpg’s ~2 in the city. With that being said, I don’t have any regrets with my purchase

Got mine installed the other day!
    255/85r16 on Tacoma spare steelies.

The truck is mechanically stock, they fit with no rubbing — haven’t been aligned yet.

Too soon to tell mpg hit, I definitely notice the weight/gearing shift relative to the stock tires/wheels but it feels similar to driving the truck with a load, which I prefer. 6MT if it makes a difference.

Balance bead question: For the best chance of success do you have the shop spin tire to find the best-balanced position (With no weight) and then add the beads or do you just use the coloured dot lined up with the stem? I am thinking about using the oversized off-road beads for when I air down.

My AT3s have the monoblock (purchased in late 2022, I think).

Never noticed it until this thread, it's not really a deal breaker.

The plys are for more durability
And a less smooshie feeling when towing I tow multiple toys it help a lot! and I believe can have more weight on the truck all the way around. Via there website

I've sliced my sidewalls what caused a blow out on small rocks and other trash using other plys. Very Inconvenient!!!
I'll stick with E, I've had 0 issues with the couple brands I've ran with E load

The thing is that the plys are just made up, it's a ply rating, not an actual number of plys. The E load AT4W has a 10 ply rating but I'm not seeing anywhere that it's stated what the actual number of plys are. The C load has a 6 ply rating but the Duraspec sidewall only has 3 actual plys. You'll find the 10 ply rated E load tires also don't actually have 10 plys. Plus, different manufacturers and different models will use different types of materials and construction. So 1 ply from one tire is not always equal to 1 ply from another tire.

I think load rating is a much better indicator of load capacity (which is what it's for) than it is of sidewall strength in terms of rocks and offroading. I wouldn't be writing off a tire simply because it wasn't an E load. I'd be using that as one, of many, pieces of information to help gauge a tire's durability.

Just got some LT265/75R16 Wildpeak AT4Ws installed today.

I'm in love already. Soooo smooooooth and way more quiet than the Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3s I were running before, but that's just the difference between MT and AT tires.

I seldom tow anything and only occasionally load down the bed with something heavy, so I don't have much need for an E rated tire. Although my wife loves my truck in general, she thinks the ride is already rough being on C rated KO2s. I definitely cannot make it "rougher" or she won't ride in it.

I would say that my ride quality is softer with these AT4Ws.

DT rep in central Indiana stated the 255/85/16’s are warehoused and available for order. They are showing on the app or website as “coming soon”. Might be worth a phone call to your local dealer to see if you can order them. Mine will arrive in about 3 days.

Do you guys know if I would have a rubbing issue with a 3”front 2” rear level kit running 255/85R16 on stock rims?

You wouldn't even have a rubbing issue with stock suspension
