Ya. It describes my new tonneau cover

 

I see you removed the tether straps from your top. Any particular reason? I don't see what they are supposed to do in the first place but I installed the anyway since they are not in my way.

 

I didn’t install it initially. Local shop has free install and I noticed they didn’t have the tether straps either. I think they may have missed that.

did you get an ALX as well? Did they come with it? I’m considering tethering it…

 

Yes, did get the ALX. It did come with the tethers attached.

 

Moo thanks I’ll email extang. I’m guessing they’re a safety feature if one of the brackets breaks. That being said my old Extang solid gold 2.0 didn’t have them. I’m wondering if there was an accident at some point

 

Be interesting to see what they say. I couldn't figure out what they were for. I didn't know where to place the block in the rail until I watched the youtube video.

 

Talked to Extang tech support to day. They said the tether has to be there or it voids warranty. I is just simply a safety item in case one of the front clamps go south.

So this is so wild… I talked to Extang and they were going to ship the tethers back in April. They never arrived so I gave them another call today. It appears that they’re not actually able to ship the tethers for liability purposes so they’re sending me a new unit! Wild huh…
