Got super lazy with the cold weather and the absurd amount of non-car related projects I have and dropped the Lexus off to the dealer for an oil change and maintenance. I like the service guy I was using with my free ones after buying the vehicle so I used him. He calls me to say the tech noticed the timing cover is leaking a small amount of oil and it’s recommended that it gets done. He asked if I had an extended warranty (which I did with the purchase through Lexus) so he says I’ll swing that one into the extended warranty and it should be no problem. Any guesses at the cost to reseal the timing cover from Lexus dealer?

My solution to the 20 foot sticks of steel problem. Gotta make some cradles for the roofrack then it’ll be mint.

With the rack being aligned with building frame, at first glance I thought the rack was enormous

From the software we use at my work, removing and installing the timing cover on your GX calls for 11.5 hours, so the price could be $1.2k-$2.5k depending on who did the job. Hopefully your warranty covers it!

Thats what I wanted to do but I didnt have any 2x2 laying around. This tubing was some wierd stuff I got from my work where its 1x1 but like .125 or .1875 wall.

Now I just use it when i need to build quick stuff like this.

Also bed stiffeners are so handy for this random shit.

This wasn't the same "timing chain cover" issue that the 3rd gen tacos were having was it? I heard some really bad horror stories of those going out of warranty......

Oh yeah, that ain't fun. At that point I might as well park the truck and figure out an engine swap depending on pricing...
But hopefully that was actually fixed before the 2018s came out.

Might as well swap a 4.0 in it.
