New Cold Air Intake Install

    Hello everyone-

    So I just installed a cold air intake on my 2017 Tacoma Off-Road. This is my very first time installing one, I think I did ok installing it. The step-by-step instructions are not very well explained but I think I did ok put in it together.

    The question that I have for those who have one in their trucks, is the following. Are you suppose to hear a gasping/throttle body noise whenever you press the gas to rev the engine? Or is it that the filter is sucking-in the air that is making that noise?

    It is your air filter bringing in air wait until you hit 5k rpms for the first time! It gets loud lol

    Ok cool, I was a little worried that it was something else. I'll hit 5K rpms tomorrow morning lol

    Let me know what you think about that 5k rpm range lol

    as far as gas milage ehh not so much help but it really wakes the truck up in throttle response!

    From an idle, if I hit the gas, I can hear my trucks stock intake. You def are hearing that from a K&N.

    It is even louder when actually driving under a load. It is not noticeable when driving under conditions. I have the K&N. I like the sound when you stomp on it.

    kind of a silly question, but do you need to get a tune for a new CAI? or does the MAF values just automatically get processed by the ecu for it to be safe

    Yes the ECU will adjust for the increase in air flow. No tune needed

    I can't tell much of a difference in power on the V6. It does sound better for me.

    After spending $35K on a new truck, $300 is not even a concern. I like how it looks and it sounds good to me.

    I am not installing an aftermarket exhaust because I think the truck sounds like a tuner/rice burner with it.

    if you drive with the ect button on all the time like me you will notice the extra pick up you get around 4k rpms

    You can't gain hp I think people are getting throttle response when increasing the airflow but you have to do it at both ends and also add a y tube magna flow exhaust system.

    doesn't change the sound like that, not even a bit. no problem. just a tad more intake woosh in the cab and a bit of improved throttle response. nothing weird.
