Just picked up a 2019 Tacoma SR5 4x4 in Calvary Blue with the Predator Package. I had gone in looking at a Cement 2018 TRD Off Road, but it had the long bed and was just too long. They had this one "on the way" so I went down a trim level or two to get the 2019 and blue color for about the same price.

I swapped out my orange Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Quite sporty but tows like sh--.

Only about 30 miles in so far, but I've noticed a few things I'm not a fan of. A lot of it are things I've taken for granted given my last vehicle and the fact that it's 2018.
    • It came with chrome rear bumper caps (???) ... no idea why they wouldn't have gone painted.
      • What's the best approach to getting these replaced with exact match. I have a paint set up in my garage, but for these I would want it done by someone more skilled.
    • This one came with a light grey interior. I guess I just assumed it would be the charcoal or something dark. I'm going to try to live with it ... but there may be a seat replacement in my future.
      • Any good after market options?
    • Blacked out badges everywhere except the grill. I have a (knock off) TRD Pro grill on the way so that should be fixed soon enough.

    • It uses a real key ... seriously Toyota?

    • No lock/unlock via the door handles. Back to using the key fob.

    • No integrated garage door opener.

Other than that I think it will be just fine. Not as comfortable or sporty as the jeep, but the Jeep was terrible at towing and I do that enough to justify going back to a truck.

I have a backflip cover I'll be installing later today.

Welcome to TW! There are several bumper cap options. You can order new from Rock Auto (what I did), derp, paint, and also, there is a thread on TW of a bumper cap cover that seems to have good reviews. Good luck and enjoy your new truck!

I believe you can buy colormatched bumper covers somewhere, it’s been discussed on here but I forget where.

For the seats, you could get seat covers or also replacement upholstery. I’d recommend Coverking (my personal choice for seat covers) or Katskins if you want to go full replacement.

Congrats on the purchase, it’s a good looking truck !

Sweet truck! You just invalidated a ton of 2018 cavalry blue pro owners :boink:

    1. Rear chrome is due to trim level and options. You picked a lower trim and no cross traffic alarm/parking sensors

    2. Grey trim, not sure, trim level again? Mine has a darker grey color

    3. Blacked out badges are cool - I think this is a dealer option

    4. A physical key is because again the trim level. OR Sport and pro all have PTS and door sensors

    5. I believe limited have the integrated garage door opener.

But dont take offence to the above, that is a nice truck and really looks like a pro that costs 40k+

Cavalry (horse mounted soldiers), not Calvary (crucification site). Big difference.

@TacoCalvary if you don't mind me asking what size are those tires and did the dealership already have the trd pro wheels installed on them?

Looks like an XP Edition (regional distributor installed package from I believe Southeast Toyota)

Edit: Was in the original post. XP Predator package comes with those wheels

Yeah on the window sticker / build sheet it was called the "XX140 XP Predator Package". I believe it's an option on Toyota's build site?

It included the 16" wheels, 265/70 tires, blacked out badges, black exhaust tip, step bars, and tailgate letter inlays.

    First welcome to TW!!

Secondly, all these small complaints were very obvious before you signed the dotted line, no?

It’s a new package for this year. Would have loved to have that package from the factory on my truck.

I think it looks pretty awesome, and I love that color. I have been sorely tempted to bite on a Sport MT for sale locally with that color, and may yet do it.

The wheels and black accents really set it off. Congrats!
