    Kenda Klever R/T

Has anyone tried this tire? Comes in a 33x10.50R17 size which is just over a half inch narrower than a 285/70/17 which might help avoiding having to do a CMC. It is listed to work with a 7” wide rim so the 4Runner Pro rims will work with this size. And it is also a load D rated tire and only weighs 47 pounds which is a huge bonus. Looks like it might be a good option over most of the heavy E rated 285/70 tires. Found one review that was done on them using a Tacoma by Four Wheeler:

    http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/w...-klever-rt-to-the-test-on-some-arizona-rocks/

Was thinking about going the 255/80 route on my 17 x 7” Pro rims but like the idea of getting something a little wider but not as wide as a 285/70.

    Any thoughts??

I purchased a set of them and will have them by the middle of next week. Plan on having them installed on Friday. Will post some before and after pictures. Currently running KO2’s in a 265/70/17.

Had the tires installed this morning and couldn't be happier. Looks much better than a 265/70/17 tire. A true 33" tire that isn't too skinny like a 255 and don't have to deal with a cab chop like you would have to do with a 285 tire. Seems like a perfect sized tire for these Tacoma's. And like the looks of this tire over the K02 as it is a little more aggressive. 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg 5.jpg 6.jpg DSC02565.jpg

I'll be anxious to hear your experience with road noise and any issues that come up. Definitely in the market for new tires personally at the moment.

Have only driven them home from the tire shop which is about 20 miles away. Was doing about 70 on the highway and noticed just a very slight increase in noise over the KO2 tires. Not bad at all and better than the DuraTrac's I previously had. Would not recommend those to anyone as they get really loud as they wear.

That looks great! What is your setup (Lift, UCA, rims, etc.)? Does it rub at all?

    Thanks!

Currently running OME BP51's in the rear with the HeadStrong 3 leaf and the overloads left in. The fronts are the 6112 (6/5 clips) with the 650lb springs. Running stock UCA's but have the Icon Deltas and the OME BP51 front coilovers sitting in the garage (just haven't had time to install them). Before I put these tires on it had about 2.25" of lift in the front. Just checked and looks like I have just over 1" of clearance at the cab mounts on both sides when fully locked. And the rims are the factory Pro 17x7 which is another reason I love this tire. Made to fit a 7" rim which most 285's aren't.

This isn’t my daily driver so I really haven’t driven it since I got them installed. Mainly our camping/road trip rig so probably won’t be driving it much till next spring unless we get a decent amount of snow this winter then I’ll be driving it. But so far so good and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

After putting close to 1,000 miles on them I can say they are noticeably quieter than Duratracs. I haven’t noticed too much difference in the dirt compared to Duratacs, S/T MAXX, and the KO2s that I’ve previously ran. But can say hands down they perform better than those in the snow, ice, and rain. I will definitely be sticking with these for now on.

    Highly recommended!

Did these tires rub anywhere? I have ordered these tires in a 285 70r17 before I found this thread. Do you think I will have any rubbing issues with them?

No rubbing at all. Not sure if those will rub or not. Seems like most people who run that size have some rubbing issues. I ran that size in a KO2 for a short while but had some minor rubbing and just seemed like too much tire for the truck. Like this size much better. Depending on what wheel your running and how much lift you have will also have an effect on how much and where you might rub. And don’t forget about regearing. If have an AT and are going above a 31” tire your going to want to regear. Putting 4.88 gears in was the best mod I’ve done yet.

Let me know how those tires work out and post some pictures.

can you show me where you got that this size tire is d rated? I’m trying to find the specs for this tire and I can’t find the weight or correct load anywhere.. in the kenda site it says the 33x10.5 is an e rated tire. Just trying to get actual specs before I purchase. thanks in advanced

In the original spec sheet (PDF) from their website they listed this size as a D rated tire. They didn't list the weight so I contacted a Kenda rep to confirm the load rating and get the actual tire weight. This is the response I got back from them:

    Klever R/T 33x10.50R17LT 121R KR601 10-ply– 47 lbs.

    Have a good day,

    Senior Sales Associate
American Kenda Rubber Industrial Co., LTD614-729-7877 Direct614-866-9803 Main614-866-9805 Fax

They have since corrected the specs on the website as it is now listed as a E rated tire which I can confirm as the tires I received are E rated. I didn't weigh any of the tires but the FedEx shipment email I received listed them as 46.87 pounds each which is right in line with the 47 pounds the Kenda rep told me they weigh.

    Hope this helps!
