Short introduction. I'm coming from a 2004 Land Cruiser. Finally pulled the trigger on a new Tacoma.
    Got a 2020 TRD Offroad 4 door.
Apparently the 2020 has Android Auto and Apple Car Play.
I'm not a huge fan of having to plug in via USB every time I get in the truck.
My wife's 2018 RAV4 has the Entune apps and we find the map app just fine and the Bluetooth auto connects for phone and streaming audio.

Anyhoo, when I launch the maps app not using Android auto I get an error message saying the maps app isn't installed, yada, yada. When I check the entune apps, there are like 2 apps installed.
I've downloaded the Entune app and it's connected to the head unit but I can't see how/where to download/install any of the Entune apps.

Can someone help? I'll hit the dealership if I have to but a visit there seems to always take an hour minimum.

    Thanks in advance.

Toyota removed the Entune apps suite from the 2020 head units because they support CarPlay/Android Auto. Why would a customer need Entune apps, right? Stupid decision, but they did it.

I’m interested to see what responses you get. I had a 2019 Camry with a bunch of entune apps, but like you I only see 2 entune apps on my new 2020 Tacoma. I didn’t spend a lot of time looking, but what I found made it seem like only certain entune apps work on certain models of vehicles and there were only two currently available for the new Tacomas.

Looks like some app that lets you use Alexa.

That's stupid especially since it seems you have to use the USB hardwired connection for Android Auto. Am I wrong about that?

You need to down load the engine suite 3.0 to your phone and sign in.

Mine has nothing, and I talked with Tier 3 tech support at Toyota about this soon after I got my 2020. The Entune app suite is unavailable in the 2020 Tacoma.

Doesn't do a damned thing on the 2020.

No, you're not. Both Android Auto and CarpPlay require a wired connection in the 2020 Tacoma. Actually though, there are very few vehicles that support wireless right now. Only a handful.

When I hit the apps button on the receiver in my truck it brings me to a screen that has two options: “New App!” and “version info”. If I select “new app!” it takes me to a screen where I can download “Toyota-Alexa”, which I have no use for.

Nope. Doesn't work in the Tacoma. Call Toyota and ask them yourselves. I'd love to be proven wrong. There have been numerous threads about this here.

I don't even get that. The "Infotainment" menu is disabled. I just use CarPlay, which is pretty awesome, and don't worry about it. But really, DUMB decision on Toyota's part to do this.

The thing that really bugs me about the 2020 stereo is that I believe Toyota disabled the Siri Eyes Free. I like Car Play, but on some short trips I’d rather just leave my phone in my pocket and be able to control music through Bluetooth. On my 2019 Camry I could long press the speaker button to interact with Siri to control my music. This doesn’t work on the 2020.

I believe you can get around this by enabling "Hey Siri" on your iPhone. Works for me, although I haven't tried to control music playback with it yet.

The only USB data port in the Taco is on the dash. The center console USBs are for charging only.
