They look awesome. I wonder how they pair with selective yellow ss3 max fogs...:D

I almost got the amber versions. But I wouldn't get much use out of the amber here in az except during monsoon season with the haboobs. Get some fog a couple times out of the year. But yes, the diodes are very impressive, and I'm considering ditching, er, my ditch lights(Amazon/china), for some diodes now. I thought my ditch lights were fairly impressive being 80w, but the output of the max diodes makes them look weak. Ha.

I prefer amber in AZ. :notsure:

I made the mistake of cleaning the headlights with a gas station squeegee a few times on my cross country trip this past summer. They're not too bad, but definitely scratched. I was going to try some novus plastic polish, but I might just swap for these new headlights and sell the oem leds at a discount.

As soon as next batch comes in, he will have sample. But photometric results are already taken and shared, https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...adlights-are-here.848777/page-2#post-30337476 OE LED is really strong at providing near field width comfort. But modest distance reach throw ( only about half of XB Evo low beam) and modest above H level high beam is weak point of OE LED. XB Evo is more for long range distance shooter with strong width, all rounder OE LED is for extreme near field width comfort, and good mid range volume impression is short summery.

do the xb evo foglights make up for that near field output? should be putting mine in today.

The XB Evo fog light is very wide and powerful, providing significant width coverage and illumination for the foreground in great balance. However, it's important to note that the fog lamp is not designed to enhance low beam functions. Rather, it serves as a occasion selective function for specific situations, drawing the driver's attention away from distant areas (which are not useful in dense fog). Its purpose is to help drivers focus on the visibility available range, immediately in front of them and improve their ability to detect road edges, especially when navigating through thick fog. On clear night, fog light does nothing but make distance zone focus weaker, reduce low beam performance potency. Make no unproportionate concern about the XB Evo's width performance; it is still undoubtedly strong overall. Just Tacoma OE LED reflector is that exceptionally impressive in near field width impression. To give you some perspective, the XB Evo outperforms the 5th generation Toyota 4Runner OE LED projector—(one of the top balance performing Bi-LED projector choice for width and distance.) The XB Evo excels in both distance and width compared to it. What you will see in difference between XB Evo vs OE LED really is priority philosophy difference, OE LED assigned significant enhancement in nearfield comfort, but in exchange, much modest distance zone comfort(or they didn't put much emphasize at distance zone performance) , XB Evo priority focus is long range distance zone comfort with overall all rounder balance that does not have weakness overall. For FMVSS compliance headlamp, there is certain limitation to illumination assignment. Both are near upper limit of performance allowance in different way, so while I strongly admire how well designed OE LED reflector system, XB Evo performance also as strong, it won't give you any concern about optical performance in every aspect.

So I was reading somewhere (can't remember where now) about how the drls are plugged into the EFI in fuse box via a fuse tap, and that people mentioned their lights coming on after vehicle has been shut off for some time. Something about self diagnostic checks it performs. They also questioned why not the INJ fuse and someone just suggested to follow the instructions to use the efi. I did witness them come on the other night but only for a few seconds. Well today, about five hours later at work, I was informed by a coworker the lights were on. And they were staying on. For a good few minutes until I went out to see if they'd shut off. No idea how long they had been on. Ignition on and back off didn't work. Had to turn the lights on with column then back off and they shut stayed off.
@TRSAndrew can you elaborate on the purpose of the drl harness and why its plugged into the efi #3? I unplugged the drl harness and there was no changes in any of the functions. All lights and drls worked as they should it seemed.:notsure:

Edit: think I just realized.. that the extra drl harness with fuse tap, is for the models which have only the full halogen housings and no drls. Mine has the factory drls so I'm assuming this extra fuse tap harness isn't even needed in my case? Still curious about the fuse location tho. I think the INJ fuse right next to the EFI#3 should be used. It's what I had my raptor/grille lights plugged into initially. Until I installed the headlights and the drl fuse tap wouldn't fit directly next to the inj fuse tap. So I relocated the raptors to the outlet fuse in the cab so i could use the efi for drls..

Sorry to hear the issue! I know the 4Runner does this on some models but didn’t realize the Tacoma does it too.

If you’re having that random cycling, I would move the fuse location to something like the INJ (which I used on my last Tacoma too IIRC) because 1) it’s ignition-switched which is what we want for the DRL and 2) it doesn’t cycle on randomly.

The fuse tap handles power for the DRL and is also responsible for the welcome sequence. Because of this we recommend not using the “DRL” mode on the light stalk at all, just let the fuse tap get the power when the truck is turned on.

We will get the install guide updated ASAP to reflect these two things!

Ohh it's for the welcome sequence. Gotcha.. I didn't test that with the fuse tap disconnected. Ha. No worries then. I'll move it to the INJ fuse!

And speaking of the welcome sequence...

Every time. Lol. I also didnt realize that the projectors also brighten/dim in intensity in the middle of this sequence (when all 3 are lit)!!

It stems off of the original 17-19 Super Duty heads that we designed the Bugatti welcome sequence into, where the projectors went half-half-half-half-full-full-full-full-half-half-half-half-off-off-off-off.

Also if you pull against a flat white wall you can see what each projector’s output does

I got a set of these. They look great. One issue I have is that I have not had stock headlights for years so I have no fill plates to move over to these new headlights.:annoyed: I've got some replacements being delivered any day now) I really want to like them and likely will once I get my issue with the DRL figured out. Just emailed Morimoto about it to find a resolution. To me it appears to be a bad DRL harness after testing for power with a volt meter, fuse tap on EFI #3 to DRL harness the power is good at around 12v. Power to headlight DRL plug and is only at .2 volts. Everything else works great when I am running the headlights at night! I just have to wait for a positive response/resolution from Morimoto.

Update 1/23: Morimoto sent a new DRL harness that I installed today and everything works as expected!

That’s a new one for me! So basically the fuse tap wire either has a poor connection at one end or the wire is broken somewhere?

We definitely have backups of these.

Thats what I was thinking, first thought was that its in the harness for the 2 headlights but it could be the fuse tap connection to the harness. At least if I tested the power right. I'm not good with electrical stuff and never know what to actually measure with the meter. But I figure Volts or Amps will help figure out most things if its a power issue.
