mine seems to need lubrication sometimes because its hard going in gear from park, I saturate it with silicon spray and it loosens up, not a long term fix

Had my OEM switch replaced a month ago and everything was perfect until this morning. I went to start and nothing...put in neutral...turned the key...started

Could I have a faulty OEM switch?

It happened again yesterday. Would not start nor would it today unless I moved to neutral. The dealer is giving me another OEM one free of charge this week. If this happens again with the second new one, what the hell could be causing the problem?

I wonder if the plug connection contacts on the truck side have corrosion or are getting moisture in the connection, since your truck is an older model they might need to be cleaned out with some elect. cleaner spray and dielectric grease in there https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p...VicDICh0ezQNmEAQYASABEgIgyPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds, still sounds like a neutral safety switch issue since it was replaced once and worked good for a time

Cleaned the contacts on the truck side with the above and installed the new OEM switch yesterday. Hopefully all is well from here on out. I wonder if it happens again, then it could be a starter issue?

or you could just buy the solenoid contacts and use the old starter, usually its just the copper contacts that wear out on Toyota starters the rest is bulletproof

My luck has been bad lately, so I got the OEM for $150 shipped. Odd thing is, the only time it does this is the mornings when I first try to start it. Never had an issue after the first start throughout the day the past couple months

Interstate battery is fine....ordered the starter, but when the old one is pulled out it will be tested first along with the contacts. Best case, I just ship the starter back

yeah the starter wouldn't have nothing to do with not starting only in neutral, more of a no start, clicking sound like a low battery, you can hear the noise in that video I put up
