I have a '13 Tacoma with an automatic and occasionally when I try to turn it on it will not do anything and I won't have power to lights, radio, hazards, etc. When I put it in neutral instead of park it will start and not have problems again for a few days.
I am pretty sure the neutral safety switch is giving me problems but would that cause the electrical problems or would that be something else?

The neutral safety switch will not cause the other electrical issues. I'd seriously doubt that there is a fault with the neutral safety switch, rather, I'd suspect a loose or corroded battery cable connection - either at the battery, or the main power supply into the fuse panel under the hood, or the body ground connections. A load test of the battery would be in order as well. Are you within mileage limits for warranty?

Yes I am, but they tried to tell me I must have had a light on that killed the battery, but the battery was fully charged when it firat happened and i checked. I checked the battery cables and they were still tight. The dealership did a battery check and load test and said it was fine so I really have no idea.

I have had that the door switch sticks on my 06 has happened a couple of times. Get home from work get out of the truck lock it and notice that the headlights are still on, go back open the door and close again and they go out.

Well, moving the shifter from park to neutral does not charge the battery, so I'd be returning to the (or another) dealer to have your issue corrected under warranty. Sounds like you got brushed off, so be polite but firm in explaining the situation and don't let them give you the run-around. I'd sticking with my earlier guess that it is a loose connection somewhere, finding it might be hard when the issue is intermittent.

Thanks for the advice. I think you could be right with it just being a loose connection somewhere.

Here is the diagnostic for checking the PRNDL switch . I beleive all you need is a multimeter to figure out if the computer in your truck sees the truck in park when you try and start it . Just match up the resistance values with the corresponding gear range.Might just need a linkage adjustment

Any lights on the dash ?
If your PRNDL switch is faulty , p0705 should be stored as a trouble code .Shake the steering wheel , then shake the shifter in park while you try and crank the ignition key
If no codes present , I agree with Landphil and there is a bad connection somewhere in the starting circuit .

Here is some reading for you http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/86096-p0705-park-neutral-switch.html
