How much should I pay to have my bearing replaced?

1.5hr max, with a lot of profit there. That said with the ECGS tools, it is only 3 fasteners and some hammer work once the wheel is off. Way easier than it seems.

Thanks. I ordered the bushing and seal. A local mechanic told me $4-500 labor, ‍♂️

That's steep. Don't feel comfortable doing it yourself? Would save you a good chunk of change for not an overly complicated task. You can borrow the two specific tools needed, there's a thread on here where people share the tools needed for removal and install. After that you just need a torque wrench that will get you to 173ft/lbs. Everything else is straightforward and easy

    DIY? An hour.

If you do have a shop do it, some will not be familiar with what’s involved. It’s dead simple, but I’ve heard a few stories from folks that came to me and were given the run around, and 3+ hrs labor.

I’d say 1.5 hr max. Stand-alone job, part included, shouldn’t exceed 300$. Just my honest opinion.

Warranty time is 2.0, so don't expect many shops to go below 1.5 unless they are freeballing it.

Shop price to remove/install the - CV & axle seal + .5hr more for the bushing sounds fair.

Thanks for all the info. I probably could do it. I just did my lift myself.

Yeah, you'll be fine. Recommend doing a new axle seal while you're in there and make sure you have diff fluid to replace what leaks out during install.

    It isn’t too terribly difficult.
I can not stand to work in confined spaces.
So I opt to pull the cv out completely.
I also disconnect the tie rod from the knuckle and spin the knuckle out of the way for more room.

You can probably get by with leaving the cv in the hub and just undoing the ball joint mount bolts.
But I’m not about speed. I’m not paid by book hours. I’m not not paid at all:rofl:

I would Not pay that much for that job. I did mine the week after I installed my eibach suspension and didn’t take me 2hrs. I borrowed the removal tool from a forum member. Like others mentioned, it’s a DIY job and there are several good YouTube videos you can watch prior to doing the job.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Since Labor rates vary so much in different areas .

Very hard call to make . Some areas that $500.00 would be a fair price .

It comes down to what your willing to pay .

a few guys rent the puller tool for the bearing and a generic set of bearing race / seal driver set is necessary. pitman arm puller / i needed also. (for me personally) i had bought one but it was lost in my shop. I spent half an hour trying to get that off and then another half looking for the tool to make it a 10 second task

    You're welcome.

LoL! That's robbery. Takes more than an hour for a homegamer.

If you did the lift, then the bushing is no problem.

Thanks guys. Also, how long can I drive with the vibration before it becomes a big issue? I drive the truck 30 miles a day or so back and forth to work.

    Enough for now
I’ve got 25k miles on my current suspension lift set up with no noticeable vibrations. I drive 80-100 miles a day for work btw
