    hello again.

well i lucked out and found a nice low mileage 04 CC tacoma!

it came with a coilover lift and the previous owner converted to manual locking warn hubs!

all my previous tacomas were just regular ADD style front axles and were very easy to chage out when a torn CV boot ocurred.

anyway my question is how do i remove the cv axles with this manual locking hub conversion? do i need to disassemble the entire manual hub?

is there any how to or video that can help with the process.

    any help always appreciated.

@Dalandser always beats me to the punch! That video shows a 1995 or older pre-Tacoma pickup with serviceable wheel bearings. Tacomas have non-serviceable wheel bearings which makes changing a CV axle a little easier.

You have to remove the hub dial and a snap ring, like in that video, but you don't have to take the rest of the manual hub off. Then you just remove the 4 lower ball joint bolts, pull the steering knuckle out of the way and pop the CV out of the differential just like on an ADD front end.

so does that mean the same ADD cv axles can be used or do you need a special CV axle to go with the manual locking hubs.

all the CV axles i have done in the past are slip on style with a nut and cotter pin holing together the wheel side. if i were to purchase new cv axles which ones do i need to purchase?

thanks for all the quick responses very helpful this site.

Different CV's with Manual locking hubs. Splined all the way to the end with a C clip.
They call it a snap ring. Where it's outlined free wheel hub.

    thanks

does the inner part just push into the main part of the front axle like the ADD style or are these the "bolt on" inner type CV?

does anyone know the part number for these?

my boots are all torn up and i plan on getting boot kits and replacing the bots with OEM type boots with the boot slide mod.

just need to know what type of CV's these manual hub conversions use so i can source the proper CV boot kit.

would the normal ADD CV boot kit work with this application?

thanks again for all the help greatly appreciated

Inner CV shafts are also the same for both.
