So here's my set up that i have.
My lightbar is turned on by a switch through a relay. The system is powered directly off the battery.

The set up I want: i want to have my head light on bright before i the lightbar can turn on. Once the headlights are on bright i can then actuate the lightbar switch to turn it on or off. If i switch off the brights the lightbar should also shut off.

So i know I need a relay that is driven off the highbeam circuit. That closes when energized by the highbeams and deenergizes when the power is removed.

So what relay do I need? And is it best to install the relay in line with the 12v lead or a switched lead? I was thinking the 12v lead coming off the battery.

can you use the same relay and just trigger it with the highbeam wire? its either going to be ground or a hot.

I want to still be able to turn the light bar on and off with the switch while the high beams are on. This should require a second relay I just have no idea which one to get.

Several people have discussed this. A fast and easy way to do this is to get a fuse piggy-back and put it either on the right or left high beam fuse. Use the power draw from there to power the switch that you want to use to turn on and off the LED bar. Then you do not need a relay at all on that side. Use the switch to energize the LED power relay, and boom, you are done.

You just need a 12v relay.
Use an "add a circuit/fuse". From there go to one side of your switch. Other side of your switch to L1 or common of the relay. Other side of the relay go to your light bar. Use your high beam wire (tap into it with an inline splice) to power up the coil of the relay. Ground to other side of coil and light bar. Hope this helps.

I got it figured out. Took a few for the rock to hit bottom. LOL

I used the stock Rigid Lighting harness and modified it to suit my install.
The Stock harness has all it's wires going to a relay socket. So I cut the red wire going to the switch harness from the base of the relay. I added my fuse tap to this wire and plugged it in to the right bright fuse socket. This gave me my 12V to trigger the relay.

Works perfect. The light bar is only active when the trucks brights are on.
