Okay so I get that. Just checking, but if I were to take the sensors and mount them to the Corbeau seat rails, they would still function properly right? Basically, that sensor doesn't have any affect on the deployment of airbags, like using the amount of weight in the seat to determine how quickly the bag should deploy? I wouldn't think so but figured I'd ask an expert while I have the opportunity because if that's the case then the sensor might need some calibration since the Corbeau seats are a bit lighter than stock taco seats

Those sensors have a direct effect on the passenger airbag, side airbag, and seatbelt tensioner. With that system not functioning correctly those items listed will not deploy in an accident with someone in the seat

I realize that part, what I'm asking is if to accompany that there is a specific weight sensitive function which determines how far the bags must deploy based on weight? If this is the case then those sensors would need to be recalibrated based on the lower weight of racing seats

I can calibrate those seats to anything, aftermarket leather with tv's in the back etc. The lower weight shouldnt be an issue. The recliner switch will have to be "tricked" during calibration, but that's easy enough.

The weight of the seat has nothing to do with it there is no predetermined distance an airbag is told to deploy. They open all or nothing

Cool, was just checking to make sure I wasn't gonna run into another problem with the electrical systems. Thanks for clarifying

sorry to bump an old thread and I hope you’re still around tacomaworld. I have a few questions about the passenger seat airbag system.

ultimately I want to be able to take the passenger seat out and set up a sleepi platform. So I would have the truck on with the passenger seat out. From what I’ve read, for me driving that’s fine. But if like to be able to take the seat in and out and use it as a normal passenger seat, as well. I understand it’s a bit of work, but in my mind it’s as much work as taking a rooftop tent on and off, and it’s just me and the dog.

long of the short, with a 2020, when I put the seat back in, from what I’ve read so far just on Tacoma world, I would need to do a calibration w/ a weight in the passenger seat? and would need a “special” tool, as my OBD reader is a different system than the airbags.

early stages of doing this but if I have to buy a tool so be it. I have done some research and the Nissan has a key acc/ignition pattern that resets the airbags. A $250 tool is cheaper than trading in for a Nissan.

thanks in advance! Hoping to understand what I would need and how to do it for taking the passenger seat in and out on a semi regular basis.
