I was underneath my truck, just inspecting it, and saw this what looks like pink chalky corrosion similar to what you would find on a battery terminals, but this is no where near the battery.

any ideas as to what it is? also should I be concerned and take it to the dealer ( i have an extended warranty).

for what its worth, the truck is a '16 3.5L with a little over 82k miles

Yes check coolant level just to CYA, but it's probably not very low, as that's a small leak, but still needs addressed.

That's not good when the rear of the engine is leaking coolant like that...

    Thanks guys.
I do remember seeing my coolant low at like 20k miles or so, I was told that it was nothing. filled the reservoir and haven't had an issue since. I just checked and the coolant is lower than full, but still not considered low..I should be good for a few days until I can get to the dealer.

    Yeah, you’ll probably be fine.
As crusty as that looks, it’s been leaking for a while.
Looks like it’s a slow leak.

I probably wouldn’t miss a days work over it.
Keep an eye on the coolant level and get it checked out when you have the chance.

Did the dealer tell you this? Was there a service order written up? Hopefully
If so, you may be able to argue it was leaking and not repaired correctly, while under warranty. I'm not saying it's a slam dunk,,,, but I'd make a case. I had to make a similar claim, when my work truck ate it's own diesel engine alive. It was a very short conference call between our CEO and the Ford service manager, when he pulled my service records,,,,, ok thanks guys, and sorry to take your time,,, I'll let you know when we're done, but it's a very big job, so it'll be week or so.

the first time I noticed it (@around 20k miles) I did bring it to the dealership completely pissed that they didn't notice that it was low during my last service...there may or may not be a write up in the system for it...but I do have the extended warranty, so I should be still good...I doubt (but honestly wouldn't be surprised) that a coolant leak wouldn't be covered by warranty...they better not pull some "wear and tear" shit...

Many higher mileage V6 3rd gens have this minor seepage issue.

Many owners are not aware of the issue because there are no drips and you need to get under the truck in order to view the pink coolant crust buildup in a specific engine area.

Some high mileage four cylinder Tacoma engines have a similar issue with the plastic bypass hose buried under the intake area.
