I’m replacing a dented and now sagging lower trim panel (some asshole hit me in a parking lot with no note). When I pulled off the front bumper trim a blue clip came out:

All I’ve found are part schematics like this

Help on where it goes please!

I believe that is one of two blue clips that hold the lower bumper valance to the bumper. There are other clips molded into the valance also but there are blue ones on each side and they’re kind of a pain to remove. I could be wrong but it looks very familiar from when I replaced my lower valance (the piece the license plate bracket screws into). Lower corner each side. You will have to look hard to find them.

I yanked the old trim off and it looks like passenger side that was hit was the lost one.

Were you able to put the clips in without removing the bumper?

Yep. The difficult thing to do was to get them unclipped to remove the old valance. I ended up just taking wire snips and cutting part of the valance to remove the blue clips so I could remove the lower valance. Going on was easy as the blue clips just insert through a U-shaped clip. It’ll snap once it’s through. Assuming I’m correct about that part. It’s possible the same part could be used elsewhere also.

You have to remove the radiator splash guards to see those blue clips. And your grill. The radiator splash guards will pull straight out once you remove the push pin.

Thanks. I wasn’t sure I could fit my hand in to put the clips back. The drivers side popped out when I unknowingly gave it some extra force

You are talking about the lower valance, right? If so, pull grill and splash guards. Get a flashlight. Lower corners looking from the inside of your bumper. You’ll need to be a bit of a contortionist to see them.

Yes. What if I used long reach pliers before clipping the top of the valence?

I’m surprised that clip came out. I hope all is intact.

It’s been a year since I did this so I’m working from memory. The grill and splash guards will take less than 5 min. to pull. You may have access from below. I just don’t remember for sure. I remember reassembly was easy. Good news for you. But my grill and radiator guards were out of the way. I’ll look for the video I watched.

Oh, makes sense then why that clip popped out. Are you getting a new valance or just using your original. I think I paid $120 or so.
