How's it going. I have a 98 tacoma I bought recently. Pretty sure it has an eBay header on it and also has an intake. I'm not really in a spot to spend the money for the stock stuff to swap it all back, and would rather avoid the hotsmog. I've heard of being able to get the stickers for the visual to pass? Was wondering if anyone out there has gone through this hassel? Please and thank you!

Might see if you can find a name on the headers and email the maker. Otherwise you might be screwed. You need the c.a.r.b. number on there. And if it's Chinese specials, your gonna have to find a cash for pass place. Good luck.

Smogs have been getting harder and harder to pass. You can play stupid and hopefully they feel sorry for you and may bypass it that 1 time, but most likely you'll have to go back to stock to get it to pass.

If you don't have CARB certified headers or intake you will fail the SMOG test, especially if you're in California. I doubt no-name headers would go through the trouble of getting CARB certification.

Ya, it's bare metal haha I randomly saw one online for 150 thats not CA legal and I'm pretty it's the one I have. I know it won't pass, that's why I'm asking about the stickers

Best bet is to look on CL or wrecking yards for a set of headers and intake.Where you located at?There is a place near Sac that has a bunch of tacomas in there wrecking yard.

Yeah very few companies make CARB certified aftermarket parts because it's a very expensive certification to get. A fake sticker won't fool a smog shop, there's a special number for each sticker that they check. Either pony up the cash for carb certified parts or go junkyard shopping for some cheap OEM replacements. CA sucks when it comes to this kind of stuff. They don't care about the environmental impact, they just want the $$$$.

My TRD headers/exhaust and supercharger are CARB certified but my URD 7th injector kit isn't...I'm hoping they won't recognize it as an aftermarket part when I get smogged next year or else I'll have to take it off for the test.

I'm in San Diego, majority of tacomas get eatin up at the yards down here. And cl people want 150 for a stock air box then I can't ever find a header.

Even if you find a real sticker it won't match the part you have. I mean you could get lucky, there are a ton of smog shops in CA and a whole lot of sketchy looking ones that would probably look the other way for the right price. But who knows how much that would be.

No way the 7th injector isn't CARB certified? Jeez.

Nope. Says on URDs website 'Not for street vehicles in CA" or "For racing vehicles only" or something like that. URD hasn't ever paid the fee to get their stuff CARB certified. Magnuson only recently did for their superchargers last year.

I'm sure it's tens of thousands of $$$$$ for a company to get the certification.

Is URD the only ones who make a 7th injector for the superchargers?

TRD used to back when they made the 3.4l superchargers but that ended years ago. There are other companies that make similar systems like methanol injection or larger injectors but I'm pretty sure the 7th is exclusive to URD.

The header will also have to have a plate or stamp with a EO number.

As much as I love California just another reason to move the hell out.

I thought you needed a current smog test pass to transfer the title at DMV. How did you do it without?

This is true, unless the previous owner paid a smog shop off to get the smog cert. But even then it should be good for two years from that date.
