Any help would be great on this. I plan on this still being my daily driver but would want to still lift it. I currently have a 2002 trd off road. But am going to sell it and get a double cab. I don't do a lot of off roading living on the coast but love the option to be prepared. I have 305 70 r16 right now and love the look. I guess if anyone had this option between the two, what would you decided on. We are keeping it basic no big add on packages. Is there a difference between either model when it comes to putting a lift on it? 2018 are coming out with manual in each model. I would settle for the SR5 but they don't have manual. Anyway if anyone has any info i could sure use it.

    One simple question.

Do you want a locker or no?

Just get the Off Road. That's what everyone is going to tell you on here.

    EDIT:

And good luck finding a TRD Off Road in a manual transmission (especially if you want anything like tech or premium packages).

Easy. Off-road if you plan on offroading.

Sport if it will be a pavement princess.

305/70r16 is my favorite tire size for that wheel. Footprint of a 35" but sits at 33".

IMO the Off Road rides better than the Sport, but then I only drove one Sport.

Also, the fake skewp triggers my OCD.

But then again, I've had 2 cars with functional hood scoops and the cat would always crawl into the scoop on both of them after driving the car because it was warm. o_O

And as far as I know none of the hoods with a scoop have delaminated.

Bottom line is drive them both (drive it a LOT) and see which appeals to YOU more because you have to live with it, not us .

Good Luck and pics when purchased!

Geeze, you anti-Sport folks are overzealous sure get up early. LOL

Anyway OP, it really comes down to what kind of off-roading you plan on doing and how much of it. There are some minor technical differences, but you really need to test both and push the envelop with their handling on pavement since it will be your daily.

I like my sport, ive never needed a locker most offroad i usually get is in fields or down some dirt/mud roads to get to the other farm my family owns. I had a locker on my ford and never used it. But i would have gotten either sport or OR just found a sport in a manual trans.... But i do love the skewp funtional or not it still looks good to me.
Also ive drove off road trucks since i got my sport and i like the ride better than my truck more floaty feeling my sport feels more stuck to the road, something i didnt realize when i was shopping for a tacoma untill later.
