Hey guys can anyone help me out I had a check engine light come on Wednesday night.
Went to my local O'reillys they scanned it and it came back with a knock sensor code.
Anybody experience this with there 3rd gen??
I did have OVT 2.0 put back in September I don't think it is related.
Can't get the truck in my local dealers until the 28th.
Any good advice/suggestions would be welcomed.

    Happy Holidays

I don't know about the Toyota but I can tell you about that code on Fords. Knock sensors where located under intake in the valley and rodents where always chewing on wires. Look for any rodent droppings around the engine.

90% of the time its mice eating wiring under the intake.

Take a flash light and check behind the intake manifold and underneath.

What's the exact code you're getting?

    Thanks for the quick responses....
I looked all over the motor didn't see any evidence of mice but it sounds like the most likely reason.
I will get the code after work today to see what the exact # is.
Also do you think doing a reflash or seeing if something else is going on with the tune would be helpful and with this being my
daily driver is it okay to drive in the condition it's in??
Lastly will my dealer see the OVT from scanning it??

They say ovt is not detectable. Money is on it being a rat.

I have heard OVT is not detectable just wasn't sure if anyone had experience with that being confirmed??
Also with everything I've read it sounds like a mouse is the root cause...

What do you guys think about driving it the way it is for the next week see any issues with that??

My knock sensor knocked once. It was coupled with a miss fire code. Cleared the codes and no repeat for a couple of years.

I's clear the codes. If it comes back you have a real issue. If it doesn't come back you had a hiccup

Depends on what the code is. If it's a circuit code, I don't think there'd be an issue. But it all depends on what the specific code is

I cleared it at the auto store it came back.
then I cleared it at my house by disconnecting the battery, cycled the ignition re-connected battery.
Then it came back after idling for a minute or so...

I've got almost 50k on it wasn't sure if it would be covered under powertrain warranty assuming no mice damage?? and no OVT issues with the dealer??

I've heard people get it covered under their comprehensive insurance. I tried that and AAA out here in Cali shot me down quick saying 'there's no proof.' Those turds didn't even at least offer to tear it down. But I repaired it myself and saw cute dead baby rats under the intake.

Code is P0327 "PERMANENT" Knock Sensor probably why it won't clear.
I have a service appt to drop it for Monday at another dealer we'll see what happens. Hopefully it's still covered under powertrain but probably not, if not we'll see how good my insurance is....

    Have a good weekend...

Thanks. That's a circuit code; decent chance it may be rodent damage. 99% sure it's not the tune. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

It won't clear bc you didn't fix the problem. You just cleared the code

It's that time of the year.

They got to me before I got to them this year. Fortunately this go-round damage was limited to some gnawing on insulation, battery 'mount' cabin filter, and a pile of acorns in the AC blower. I've 86'd the bird feeders and I'm still catching two a week under the hood.
Par for the course here in the woods..

Yeah I do have molasses buckets and snap traps all over but the Fuckers still probably found a way in...
I'm going to get the tune reversed probably just in case in the un-likely chance it's a faulty sensor then drop it off for service.
hopefully insurance will cover it and just be out the deductible if not I'll really be:annoyed: FUCKING PISSED!!:crapstorm:
