Here's my problem. I have my hi-lift mounted on the side of my Prinsu rack using some very sturdy brackets. I've tried every method under the sun to make it stop rattling, but nothing is helping.

I have a handle isolator. I filled the base with RTV. I put electrical tape over where the handle goes into the jacking portion.

It seems like all my rattle comes from the only part left, the foot (the part that does the lifting). I can see no easy way to quiet it down without impeding function.

Can anyone here help? It is driving me crazy!! :goingcrazy:

    Always in process
bungee from the corner of the foot to somewhere up on the vertical portion of the hi-lift. Basically it pulls it tight to keep it from rattling. I've done this with mine for years

Mount it somewhere else? Like the bed rails.

Yeah it is. I have yet to use my hi lift because the stock jack and a chunk of 2x4 has worked great when I’ve needed it.

I use mine for quite a few other things other than lifting the truck. Trailers, farm implements, winching, etc. It’s a useful tool. Just too noisy mounted on the roof!

I like the bungee idea, I will have to try that.

I have the hi-lift locking mount that also rattled. I just took a thin rubber pipe like thing (technical term), cut it in half, glued it to the mount and trimmed as needed. Rattle no more.

I think the rubber part was actually from a 2 in rubber insulated clamp that I no longer needed.

I also have the boot on it. Not sure if that helps or not.

Mine scares me. I used it in the driveway a couple times and it's intimidating to lift a heavy ass truck up like that.

Yeah same here. I know how to use it if I need to, but I try other options first.

Can't picture what you are describing. Can you post a pic of what you did or something? Maybe a sketch?

I was picturing him basically lining the mount with thin rubber. You could probably also achieve it with a cut up bicycle tube

Electric tape has to go- sticky goo in the sun, yuck! Try teflon tape, it wont last but wont run either.

Also, Is it mounted on the driver side? If so, put it on the passenger side, the sound may be less if it’s not vibrating the whole rack but then it’ll help with your taco lean, too!

Here is the setup. As you can see in red, I have a bit of rubber glued to the underside of the latch:

Here is a pic of it open:
    IMG_20180618_193146.jpg

Essentially, I went to Lowes looking for something to help insulate that component and found something like this:

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Fernco-1-1-2-in-x-1-90-in-dia-Flexible-PVC-Coupling-Fittings/1000075357

I simply cut it in half and used gorilla glue to glue it to the latch and all my rattling was over.
