Working on a bunch of modifications (mostly exterior lighting) and was helping to find some help here.
So I've been working on installing a bunch of new things in my truck. I had 6 custom switches printed at CH4x4 and am learning how these are actually quite challenging to install as they require some components that the factory switches just don't have. Anyway, that's beside the point of this post.

So I took off all of the paneling and on the top set of switches there was one factory switch for my fog lights (far left) and then two blanks. No big deal. Except that the right most blank had wiring cable harness behind it.

It looks to be a 6-pin harness with 5 wires going into it. I've included pics below of this and I'm just curious if anyone knows what the purpose of this is. Do the Tacoma's come pre-loaded with something that there is literally just no switch to control it with? So in other words, a person chooses not to pay for some package option and yet the device is still installed, but they literally just don't put the switch in so that you can't use it? I just have no idea what it might go to.

I prodded it with my multimeter and it definitely has some power going to it, so it's hooked up to something. Any ideas would be greatly welcome.

So above is the blank from the right most switch holder on the top bank of switches.

From the side angle you can clearly still tell it's a blank, but there is something connected into it - as opposed to the other blanks which are literally just pieces of plastic covering the hole.

And when I removed it from the blank holder, this is what I find. Absolutely no idea at all.

Ahh - so yea I've seen some panels where people have the TRD 120v Inverter switch. So I guess they just leave the wiring there in case I got the plug outlet installed and then they would just hook it up to the on/off switch?

My 05 Tacoma already has the 100/400 watt converter and one of the three remaining toggle blanks has that harness. ??

They just make one harness to save on costs, so there are plugs like that all over.

Other potential candidates for unconnected plugs are the clutch start cancel for manuals, fog lights, the inverter mentioned, and certain traction control things depending on year and model.

So mine has diff lock, fogs, and inverter on top, 3 blanks below (1wired). Does that mean if I put a toggle in something new will work? Lol maybe an ice maker…
