My Tacoma is on hold at port!

Just got the call. My TE Taco was supposed to show up this week, but something is going on and they are not shipping it to the dealership. Has anyone else gotten this phone call and if so, what have you been told. Any other info on this would be appreciated. I'm quite impatient when it comes to waiting.

 

they hold vehicles at the port sometimes.....thats the way it is and the world we now live in......you can cancel the deal or wait......the waiting is worse if you surf on TW.......try porn

 

Truck drivers are becoming scarce and they are hiring 12-year-olds to drive semis now. Many of the previous-drivers say that before the paranoia of the last 3 years they were in-and-out of the port with 3 forms and only 2 hours. Now it is 25 forms and 30 hours-ish. And they are not paid to just sit on their butt.

Make the supply harder to reach and any snag anywhere makes things exasperating.

Mine is on a 63 day hold at the port. Started 2/14

I figure if they truck isn't waiting for accessories, or what ever port foolery that goes on. Maybe the truck got parked in a lot, and that lot isn't getting moved until a certain date, so if that's where the truck is it wont get processed until those trucks get moved. Or where ever that truck is being shipped to it's going to wait until a full load is ready to go buy truck or rail car.

 

I believe this is what has happened. but was just communicated to me. Got to love the lack of communications coming from dealers now a days.

 

I did have a QC hold in June on my 2022 order. Never was notified the hold was lifted but my truck arrived at the dealer while in hold status 8 days later.

 

Well, lets hope for that. Ive got parts already sitting here waiting for this thi.ng

They can also get held if they don’t pass inspections for whatever reason.

 

Customs found contraband behind the fenders, but they promise to reassemble it when they are finished.

 

I would ask questions and get a firm answer as to why. If a vehicle is damaged in transit they may repair it and depending on the nature of the repair and how much it costs they may or may not inform you. I would try to see it after it is dropped off but before any clean-up and prep work is done. I requested my dealer NOT clean up the vehicle in any way before I took delivery of it. They left on every piece of plastic and protective pieces they could and only took off what they had to in order to deliver the vehicle. I spent 8 hours cleaning up a brand new truck, and loved every minute of it!

 

@TacoMeNow I had this happen and it sat at the port for like 3-4 weeks, I was steaming, because the truck was already delayed 30 days getting to the port. Found out that a lot of the vehicles are getting tagged for a quality control check before getting the work order cut to install any of the accessories installed (i.e.., steps and such). I was so pissed when it was delayed again, but knowing that is was supposed to get a soup to nuts checkout post factory and pre-dealer arrival did give me some peace of mind. I did work out a dealer as they told me if I did the finance paperwork they could contact the port for an expedite, and it worked out in my favor, my dealer threw in accessories that were equal to the payment I would have made (so I got the roof rack since I got the Trail Edition to get some cargo space back), and my interest rate dropped like 1% before the paperwork was turned into Southeast Toyota Finance.
