Thought I would share my slide in I built for my first gen. I made it out of a foam core composite very similar to how this guy made his (https://youtu.be/MAGhUolw-i0) weighs about 250lbs. IMG-2101.jpg IMG-2102.jpg IMG-2104.jpg IMG-2106.jpgplease excuse the messiness IMG-2105.jpg
the spots on the ply are epoxy marks from gluing the panels on that have since been sanded out

For ventilation there is a 12v fan in the roof and the side window opens with a screen so you get a nice cross breeze. You could add a ac if you wanted but it would have to be really small, but the camper is very well insulated so it would cool down quick.

Hey man love the build, especially the light weight idea. I was wondering how rigid it is to cross loading winds while driving and if you ever had it out in big storms?

I’m thinking of doing something similar but don’t know if an expert skeleton would be worth incorporating.

Also if you were able mount things to it without destroying the composite and introducing leak paths?

Thanks! I have not had it out in any hurricanes, but it handled the winds going across the plains no problem. I think in Wyoming there were 50ish mph crosswinds and it was fine. For mounting things to the outside yes you can, just requires some prior planning. I embedded strips of 1/2in baltic birch ply in the foam where I wanted to have things mounted so screws have something solid to grab into. Resulted in a really strong connection, every thing gets covered in epoxy and the foam is waterproof so no leaks.
