I had posted a post couple months ago- left vauge cause of dealing with insurance but here is the rest of the story So back in October 2022, I was rear-ended by a late 90's early 00's dodge 3500. He was going about 60. traffic ahead of me was slowing to a stop for a car turn left. His excuse for not seeing me and hitting me so heard was that he was looking at the sunset out the left- with his phone that looked newly busted up
after giving me a old insurance card i later found out it was his parents insurance he or the dodge was not on. he did have his own insurance that he had let lapse 2 months prior. to get my truck fixed I had to do it under a uninsured motorist claim. come to find out both of us have geico insurance. after 3 months of fighting geico, the guy admitted fault (sounds like he was trying to change the story too.)

geico for their part made it worse by having 20 plus agents keep asking me where the accident occurred, where I went to the hospital, who paid the bill, if Medicare was involved. wanting a statement, wanting records....20 plus people asking me the same questions over and over again- dealing with geico was worse than the accident and mild injuries I had.

Truck repairs: got it done at Ron tonkin collision center in Portland Oregon- totally would go them again if needed. geico delayed repairs by not responding to the collision center for almost 3 weeks. total repair cost $10,600.

I left geico due to the crappy service they provide and then has raised their rates.

his truck is totaled, and I am glad I got my Toyota. just wised the accident didn't happen 6 months after buying my truck

insurance companies are bullshit. I had to take the person that hit my truck to small claims court so their company would pay all the money the owed me. All in all took more than a year since the collision

Sounds like a similar story that happened to me back in June. Uninsured motorist. Rear ended, slow traffic. But thankfully my insurance (American Family through Costco) was friggin’ awesome!! Took 1 week from the accident to direct deposit of the payment for the deemed total loss. Only spoke to 2 people, adjuster and case manager (I think that was his title), and they were the only ones I spoke to whenever I called them or they called me (with daily status updates).

Glad you’re finally done. Sucks your new truck isn’t new anymore though, other people suck

Interestingly enough, my accident didn’t have nearly as much damage as yours and I was quoted ~$13k to fix. My tailgate was fine.

Glad you are ok. Looked like a lot more than 11k in damages. Did you make sure they looked a the frame?

Glad you are OK. The worse part of your deal, is unless the body shop or insurance company held off on reporting this, it could go to CARFAX. A CF report will show the damage area, and will outline it, "Damage". This could take $1000's off the value of your truck when you go to trade or sell it. Not saying this will happen, check it out with your VIN.

dealing with the insurance was the nightmare i didnt know was coming when i was in an accident. Having to start over from the beginning each call with the at fault partys insurance each day and not gaining any traction was hell.

These are the "dark arts" methods...In this type of cases always have an attorney to deal with them.

Srry to hear about this misfortune. I am super weary of most Dodge vehicles/drivers on the road. The ones in the red coloured ones seem to be middle aged potato heads that think they are behind the wheel of a Viper. Beware of red Caravans and Rams.

I was rear ended by an older distracted guy holding his phone in a red Ram. This was in my 4 banger car. And my first experience dealing with a shady body shop that was recommended by a friend. Should have dealt with the shop my ins. company pointed me to. Gotta feel the burn to obtain the learn.

I’m sorry to hear OP, that’s awful man, the wreck, the injuries, and dealing with a lying POS as well as his shitshow insurance company. Glad you’re okay and best of luck on the repairs.
My truck is currently in a body shop getting worked on, hit a deer recently. The body shop owner is an all around amazing owner, operator and human being and has bent over backwards to get my insurance company to make things right, the way I want them done.
He told me that his uncle used to work for Geiko and that their claim policy at the time, and may still be, is based on “the 3Ds,” Deny all initial body shop supplement quotes, Delay all correspondence with body shop once they’ve been denied, Defend their rationale for denying and delaying a resolution.

Don't hold out a lot of hope for diminished value. It is absurd the way that it is calculated and nothing in the calculation is in your favor.

I am shocked with that much damage that it was only $10k

I tried getting diminished value and they denied me stating that used car prices are up and therefore I should pound sand

Insurance is such a racket. You pay into it your whole life, some jag off without insurance hits you and you have to make a claim.

Insurance: since you used this, despite paying 1000’s into it, we are now going to charge you more.

glad you got it fixed. What a load of booshit! I am glad you went with good ol GP (general principle) and spent your money with your wallet. It seems like complete crap they drug their feet given you had uninsured motorist and comprehensive with them,,, it sounds like to me, they were making their problem your problem.
I have great distain for uninsured drivers, bunch of theivin ass bums.
