    Hey Guys,

I recently purchased a 2018 Tacoma TRD off-road double cab and I thought I would share. I posted some photos on this post but they aren't that great. I'll try to update with better ones.

Overall, I really like it. Drives great and handles well. 2018 version is exactly the same as the 2017 version except for a different grill and the addition of Toyota safety sense. Essentially, the truck has radar and cameras in it that help with adaptive cruise control and the truck will break for you if you are about to get into an accident (I wouldn't trust it tho). If you look closely at the first pic, you can see that the toyota emblem decal isn't something you can poke your fingers through. The toyota emblem is solid because that is where the radar is. The safety features are meh to me. But I will say that the black grill looks a lot better than the chrome ones in previous years but still not as cool as the TRD pro grill.

What I don't like are the seats. They are extremely uncomfortable after about 30 minutes in them. I need to buy a cushion or something. I guess I can't complain too much, it's a work truck and not a luxury car.

I need help figuring out what nerf bars to get. I am looking for something cheap. I only want the nerf bars to prevent door dings.

    Are these any good? (https://www.realtruck.com/ionic-5-curved-black-nerf-bars/R186021P2017Y608MA.html)

And finally, I have a question about detailing the car. I will be doing about a thousand mile move with the truck. I am confident that the truck will be covered in a lot of filth after the trip. My new place is an apartment and I will have to use a coin-operated car wash. Anyone know if those coin washes allow you to attach a foam cannon to their pressure washers (I hear they help prevent swirl marks)? I am a noob at detailing and I am trying my best to have the least amount of scratches on the truck for as long as possible....so I would appreciate any advice anyone can provide.

    Thanks!

Congrats on the new Taco. I detailed my car the first 1000 miles with dust and pin striping from off-roading. Just add water after and she’s clean.

Congratulations on your awesome new truck!! What seat options did you get with it? If you got cloth, you might want to take a look at some seat covers as the may help in the comfort department. There are a lot of excellent options out there; I went with Fia Leatherlites and they add a bit more padding.

I don't have any info on your other questions, unfortunately.

    Enjoy your new toy!

Is the grill emblem a solid piece to house the safety sensors?

Also, I assume you're using the lemons and coconut to make a cocktail.

The best thing you can do, if you absolutely HAVE to use a coin operated wash, is to bring your own 2 buckets and multiple wash mitts with you. Foam cannons help by removing the light surface dust, etc but really are just a fun toy. Whatever you do, do not use whatever brush they have there for you. It's like taking a brillo pad to your paint.

Lol, they are limes actually. Based on my culture, its good luck to run a new car over limes and break a coconut.

Thanks. I got the truck with cloth seats. Yup, I will have to get seat covers. I'll look into that brand.

Yes, the grill emblem is now a solid piece. Previous year's models had an emblem where you can poke you fingers through it...not the case anymore. The grill emblem is solid b/c that is where the radar is (that's what the sales guy said)

Yes, I was between the red and gray. I am happy with my choice. We have beautiful trucks!
