SOLUTION FOUND: Issue was that the Video input for the backup camera was put into the wrong plug in the rear of the camera... you must put it into the brown and not the yellow!!

    What's up guys!

First thread so I'll try to make it a decent one. Looking on solutions for why I'm not getting a feed. There are two wires: One video and one power.

The Video: It's hooked up from the headunit through the grommet and out the back to the tailgate. It appears that the HU is expecting a video feed (aka it's plugged in the back of the head unit).

The Power: It's wired from the camera to the reverse tail light. From my understanding I did the positive and negative correctly.

Why would I not be getting a feed? Perhaps I got a faulty unit?

Are you connecting the camera to the yellow or brown RCA jack? You should be connected to the brown jack. I have the same stereo and had the same problem when I installed mine, drove me crazy until I realized I plugged into the wrong jack.

Also, on my Pioneer (older model) I had the same issue. Best I recall it was something under camera settings (on the head unit) that I to change before I got an image. For the life of me I can't recall what it was, just look in there and try some different settings.

Have you checked the menu setting for the camera as mentioned above. I think you can choose polarity or ground, something like that from the head unit's menu. I know I have to change this setting to get my camera working every time I disconnect the battery.

You probably should have hacked into the other side of that connector. It's cheaper to replace the bulb side wire loom. But since you already cut in there I would go back and really seal up those solder joints.

Yellow. Let me go check this..... Seems stupid to make it brown instead of yellow

Yep. When I change the polarity it doesn't work when I put it into reverse (as in the image won't even pull up) but it does work when I'm parked.

I did do the bulb side and it wasn't working so I thought perhaps there was an issue there or something... Doh. Regardless I'll cleanly solder everything over and shrink wrap around it just in case.

Yep, very stupid. I literally spent hours trying to figure out what I did wrong. I rewired it to the reverse lights at least 5 times. I am amazed I did take a hammer to the head unit after the first 2 or 3 hours.

Pioneer says the yellow is for a front or aux camera. It still doesn't make sense to me that they changed the color to brown from the universal yellow video color.

I was so close to taking a hammer to everything, ha! Thanks for the help... Now just need to get everything leveled and button back up the tailgate!

Yep I became quite pissed before I finally got it figured out. But mine definitely was some settings. I don't even think mine has an option for a front camera.
