Alright guys, I wanna ask opinions here. I've been debating buying a 5-panel rear view mirror for my taco. I know it's a little "ricer", but the pro's to doing this seem to significantly outweigh the cons. I searched the forums for people on tacomaworld who may have posted about this, to no avail.... I think this could not only be a safe alternative to the stock mirror, but also an aesthetically pleasing one.

    What do you guys think???

They were called Wink mirrors. Had them on a couple VW Bugs I owned and built back in the 80's. They worked awesome.

expanded rear view vision?...(as far as i know....) if i'm not mistaken it provides a corner to corner view of the rear.

I'm gonna have to do measurements from a-pillar to a-pillar and see the frequency of mirrors that fit snuggly in that space.

Had one in my '76 Datsun pickup, moved it to my '69 Camaro.
Loved it, especially in the mini truck.

The flat front provided a perfect spot for the KLOS stickers too!

For an '07, by all means.

'09+ trucks have the backup camera built into the stock mirror. '12+ also have the temperature and compass built in. Features would be lost if the stock mirror is removed.

yea, praise the tacoma gods that i purchased the model prior to the new mirror mods.... although i am kinda bummed i missed the auxillary switches/spaces under the a/c controls.... that would have been a nice thing to get.

I am very dependent on the backup camera, since the tailgate is quite high.

Of course, if you got a big-screen stereo, you can route the backup camera image to it. However, I prefer the video screen "co-witnessed" in the mirror.

The mirror doesn't take up that much space. The mirror height is 2.75''. Considering the drop of the mount couldnt be more than an inch or 2, you're probably looking at 3-4'' in total depending on how far the mirror overlaps into the mounts...
-----I measured from pillar to pillar and it's 46''. I guess I'm looking for a minimum of 36'' with the mirror. Now the challenging part will be the install. (being that I don't have an interior cage....)

    That's easy enough.
The 2009+, and even 2012 lower dash panel will fit.

The 2012 panel puts both power outlets on the right side.
