My 2023 Tacoma does not have the fender flares. The OEM mud guards do not fit. I have contacted Weathertech and the truck is too new and they don't have anything yet that will fit. What say the Tacoma World bunch? What guards will fit my non-flare Tacom?. Thanks all.

I put on a set of Rek gens on my SR with no fender flares and have no issues.

Wait for the Weathertech's. They look and fit like OEM on non-flared Tacoma's.

What do you mean your truck doesn’t have fender flares and thus the mud guards don’t fit? This doesn’t add up for me. Do you mean that you have color matched fender flares instead of black? Regardless, I’m not sure why that would interfere with mud guards.

Nothing significant has changed on tacos since 2016. Weathertech probably hasn’t updated their product database to include 2023

The OEM mud flaps are designed to fit with fender flares, otherwise when using them on trucks w/o them there'll be an excessive gap like shown in the following thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/mud-flaps-guards-on-a-2021-tacoma-sr-4x4-double-cab.720065/

    +1 on rekgen.
Order for 2022, their site simply isn't updated.
I had to order for 2020 to put on my 2021.

I did not know the SR didn’t have plastic fender flares. I believe the fender has mounting points for the flare and it seems unlikely Toyota would make a special fender for the SR. Do they hide the fender flare mounting points?

Also, does this mean that you cannot compare hub to fender flare measurements between an SR and any other trim?

SRs are missing some of the mounting holes the flares clip into. This thread that explains how to installing them on an SR shows the clips on the flares you have to cut off to make it work.

Interesting. It’s hard for me to understand how Toyota is saving any money by creating a special stamping die for SR fenders, but there is likely some engineering subtleties I’m not privy to.

The screws in the wheel liner of the SR is the same as any other trim, it just doesn’t have the cutout/holes for the clips to support fender flares. Measurements wouldn’t be an issue since most installs, like steel bumpers, requires people to remove the fender flares anyways.

Here’s a higher trim without the fender flares.

What I’m trying to say is that it’s my assumption that the fenders are stamped using a die, thus two different versions of them requires two different dies. Dies are typically expensive to create, so having two instead of one could out weigh the cost of not providing plastic fender flares on the SR. There are obviously subtleties I’m missing.

i have no fender flares either. the oem ones suck, as they do not bend if you hit anything with the mudflap. i got after market ones called rekgen cause they are stiff but will bend if the flaps land om a rock while offroading. sometimes oem is not the best way to go, toyota just wasnt thinking straight on these flaps.

It's so Toyota can sell more. You break one then you have to buy another set. It's the perfect crime.

No problems here with OEM mudflaps off-road.
