    Hi all -
We are first time truck owners....we just purchased a 2015 TRD sport. I have searched this forum, google, and the owners manual. Does this vehicle calculate MPG? Our old 2012 Camry does this so I'm surprised I cannot easily find how to do this through the settings screen. I see my odometer/trip A/ trip B but cannot for the life of me find MPG.

Is this possible on the truck, and if so. what am I doing wrong?

    TIA!

    Hi, welcome to the site.

    Unfortunately, no it does not.

Most of us simply calculate with miles and gas fill.

I use an UltraGauge too. It's very useful. Instant MPG, average, trans and engine temp, etc...

Ignore the MPG below, this was on 33" tires and heavy wheels. My average MPG on 265/75R16's are about 18.5

I have a '15 Sport...it does not estimate mileage...have to do it the old fashioned way. I think that's better anyway.
    Cheers, Jeff

Here is my last fill up from my 2015 sport. I have a terrible 1.7 mile commute that is only terrible in that it causes me to get really bad mileage.

Yikes, that is bad. I get at least 300 miles before my light comes on.

I do like your gas prices though at $3 a gallon. It's $4 here.

1.7 mile commute would make me happy. I'd ride my motorcycle.

I have a 5 mile commute, and I barely ride anymore. Takes me as long to get my helmet, jacket and gloves on and off as I spend on the bike, and while it's like 3x the MPG, it's like no miles.

I miss when I was taking college classes, and it was 20 miles each way and/or hard to find regular parking, it was so much easier to motivate myself to ride.*

*Getting poured on a couple times didn't help any since it seems to rain almost every day for the past 18 months.

Actually, I'd be happy with zero commute and just ride and do whatever I want. For a 1.7 mile ride, I'd just slap on a helmet.

I would be cautious about believing the displayed MPG on a vehicle. SWMBO has a RAV4 that displays the gas mileage and it is generally off by 3 to 4 MPGs, sometimes by more, sometimes by less. Her previous car (a Honda) was also inaccurate.

Troof, knock on wood so far the only time I've needed mine was about 4 miles from the house, got rear-ended when I was stopped to let a pedestrian cross. I tried riding with just a helmet and gloves once, I didn't dig it and went and got a mesh jacket so I could ride in the hot. I have near misses with morons way too often to risk that shit. I almost got ran off the interstate once by a chick who was moving left, WHILE LOOKING RIGHT AT THE "HEY STUPID, THERE'S SOMETHING IN YOUR BLIND SPOT!" light in her mirror, who then proceeded to flip me off for having the audacity to not wish to be run over by an inattentive soccer mommy.

In other news, on the original topic, just use Fuelly. They have a site, an app (that kinda sucked years ago, but I haven't tried recently) and a # you can text your fill-ups to, and it tracks them as well as texting back your MPG. Yeah, I know I could do it with a calculator app, but this is even easier, and keeps track of them.

The wife's Forester has a display, but it's trip odo average only, and not quite accurate. Toward the beginning of the tank a tiny change in how aggressive you drive will have it varying wildly over like 6mpg, towards the end you could floor it everywhere and cruise 80+ on the highway and only see 1mpg difference. At least it's more accurate than most I've seen, it's pretty consistently 1-1.5mpg higher than actual. I guess I wouldn't mind it in the truck to at least get a relative idea what is or isn't getting good mileage, but of well.

I have a '10, only seems to do trip average. If you set to the actual odometer the MPG display just goes blank.

Also... 20.4? You got an XT? That's terrible even for my wife's 5 mile commute of driving like an asshole and hitting 5 untimed traffic lights. I usually get like 24 in mixed driving, 26-27 on long trips. Just 'meh' enough that I don't mind taking my truck most places!

lol nope not an XT. I assume its because i almost never drive on the highway but i still think that's terrible. Its a 2018 btw. I drove down to DC the other day in it and got 31.4mpg but never see anything like that in day to day driving.
