I used to have a Nebo torque limiting screwdriver for mounting scopes but not anymore.

I know Wheeler is the standard in the consumer world but I’ve been wary of their quality.

Does anyone use any other tools/brands to set torque when mounting scopes? Experiences with Wheeler is also welcome, I don’t know why I’m suspect of them but I’m willing to give them a try if others have had good experiences.

I suppose the main thing money will get you with this tool is more precise calibration and repeatability. Don’t trust much made in china to have either of those.

I have used Wheeler tools for many years with no complaints, I have both their mounting kit and lapping kit. Not sure how precise their torque wrench is but if the rings are lapped and you use loc-tite you should not have an issue.

    Salt spray and rock chips.
The Wheeler lapping & alignment kit is fantastic.

Their Level-Level-Level tool is a good idea that *almost* works for me, but I run uncommon receivers. It's probably just fine on the usual Remingchester or Mauser clone.

Beam type torque wrenches are inexpensive and reliable. Any brand will do, if you have any question about their accuracy you can DIY check & calibrate them in a couple of minutes. I use the Park Tool wrench from my home bike shop.

My Wheeler torque driver has never let me over torque anything . After years of lapping, I've become a big fan of Burris Signature Zee rings.

As others have said, Wheeler is the way to go. I have the scope ring lapping kits for 1" and 30mm tubes as well as their F.A.T. Wrench. There's really no better way to mount your optics.

Fix it sticks torque limiter worked alright, it’s nice that it’s a small piece and doesn’t take up much space.
