Got my first ride of the year in yesterday. Just a short ride out to get gas and make sure the bike still works but enjoyable nonetheless.

i prefer my forma adventure boots so i have some flex and also grip in the mud. my old mx boots i had years ago were slick bottom and had zero movement in them.

Looking at Alpinestars Tech 7, either MX or Adv. Need to find a store that has both to try them both.

I really hate how hard it is to find stuff to try on around here in the PNW. My buddy from the midwest has mentioned a few places he used to shop that actually carried a huge amount of inventory. He's never found anything out here that has 5% the inventory of those places.

It's pretty shit, small town I'm in doesn't help either. Worst case I can order them both online from where I got all my other gear and then return what doesn't fit, they're really good about that. Pita process to order double what you need, wait, then try it out, and ship it back.

Absolutely. I hate the idea of ordering multiples just to ship one or both back. I lucked out in finding boots in my size at cycle gear. Hit three of them before finding the jacket I wanted. Wife randomly found a jacket on clearance that fit her well at a motorcycle shop we stopped at. Was literally only of that brand in the store, and only thing in that size.

The enduro sole is worth it.

They soak up water like a sponge unless you buy the drystar version which will be warmer.

Super comfortable boots but they arent the most protective either. You can fold the sole in half by hand. I almost wear my gaernes exclusively now because that wont happen.

    True to size.

More progress on the powder coating. I installed a wye on the duct and installed the fan. Now it will pull a little fresh air and circulate the hot air for a more even heating of the oven. Also the fan is not in direct heat so it should last. A 3m air filter for my mask fits perfectly to keep out any debris from contamination. Then it was on to build a rack to hang parts on to apply powder. I used som 2x2 square stock that I had for the base and purchased 1/2 “ pipe and fittings to make it. I will be able to hang parts at eye level so I can see. Also the the two pieces of pipe in the middle so I have 4 points to hang the oven rack of parts to apply powder. Next I am going to buy a 5x5 pop up with 4 sides so I have a good covered area to apply powder. Then it will be easy to set up and clear out when I am done.

Family friend was riding in Capitol Forest here in WA and caught a root with the toe of his proper riding boots in a corner. Broke his foot in half around his peg, but boot didn't sever. Doctors said it definitely did it's job, and he'd have lost half his foot without them. Got to keep it, plus a lot of metal added. I'm all for real MX boots when riding offroad. I'm still not sure I really like my Alpinestar Ridge WP boots for the street. They're sorta mid rise and clearly don't have anywhere near the protection.

Just got my calcium score back. It’s 3. Low risk for heart disease or heart attack. Doc still wants to put me in cholesterol meds but I said no. I have had high cholesterol my entire life. If it was so bad shouldn’t my calcium score be off the charts. No meds for me. I will continue to eat good and exercise for my meds.
I know it’s just one metric but I will not go on meds if I don’t need them. If I ever have a heart attack then yes but until then no.

I had a calcium score done last year. My score was a 2 but I've already been on cholesterol meds. Doc offered to take me off of them. My mom died of a stroke and my older brother had one about 1.5 years ago and he'll never fully recover. I've chosen to stay on them as I'm far more afraid of a stroke that leaves me like it has my brother.

Yup. Ive smashed my outer foot against a root too, it hurt bad enough in the gaernes and im pretty sure i would have had a broken foot in my tech 7s.

I’ve been riding dirt bikes since 1975 and never wore motorcycle boots or any other gear besides a helmet. Wrecked on the bikes plenty over the decades, but nothing more than a few scratches or bruises. I guess that I got lucky. I got a new pair of boots to start adding to the gear. I will add more to my dirt gear. When I started riding on the streets I got all geared up before even getting my first ride in. Getting gear for the streets got me to thinking about getting it for the dirt. Just because I got lucky all that time doesn’t mean that I’ll continue to be lucky. I’m getting older and I just don’t bounce back as quickly as I did when I was younger.

Just bought a pair of Tech 7 enduros and they are super comfortable! Wear a size 12 normally but size 11 fit me perfectly. The squeak is real!
